Thumbs up Dover Race (9/24/06) Final Results

Well kids, we are off to Dover again this weekend and I am full of hope and expectations. Ryan Newman has won at this track 3 times and he really needs a win.

Ahhh Dover, the Monster Mile! High banks and loads of fun! I will be posting the qualifying and final race results here, and if anyone has anything to say about this race, this is the place to do it!

I hope that you all enjoy the race and for those of you blessed enough to go to it, enjoy and be safe.

Lap-by-Lap: Dover

NASCAR.COM
September 24, 2006
04:16 PM EDT (20:16 GMT)

Lap 330 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. thinks he has a flat tire. He's running two laps down but dropping track position quickly.

Lap 327 -- Following the same strategy that gave him a Dover win in June, Matt Kenseth stays out and leads the field to green.
1. Matt Kenseth
2. Kurt Busch
3. Reed Sorenson
4. Jeff Burton
5. Jeff Gordon

Lap 323 -- Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch and Reed Sorenson stay out, but the rest of the leaders are in:
•Kevin Harvick gets four tires and fuel
•Jeff Burton makes a track bar adjustment
•Jeff Gordon had fuel to finish but is in to get new rubber
•Greg Biffle gets the free pass

Lap 322 -- YELLOW FLAG: J.J. Yeley spins coming out of Turn 4 but has no damage. His rear slightly touched the wall.

Lap 307 -- Jimmie Johnson, Greg Biffle and Martin Truex Jr. restarted in front of the leader on the tail-end of the lead lap, but Matt Kenseth quickly puts Johnson and Biffle a lap down.

Lap 306 -- GREEN FLAG: Matt Kenseth gets the race going again with Jimmie Johnson the last car on the lead lap in 14th position.
1. Matt Kenseth
2. Carl Edwards
3. Kurt Busch
4. Jeff Burton
5. Clint Bowyer

Lap 302 -- Reed Sorenson gives up seventh position to top off with fuel. He will restart eighth. A handful of other drivers followed.

Lap 299 -- The lead-lap cars are on pit road:
•Kevin Harvick gets four tires after his two-tire experiment failed
•Matt Kenseth is the first off pit road with four and fuel
•Carl Edwards comes off second with a fast stop

Lap 297 -- YELLOW FLAG: Scott Riggs smacks the wall and has a crushed right side. His car begins to burn near the front wheel, so Riggs gets out of his car.

Lap 296 -- Martin Truex Jr. is on pit road for his pit stop.

Lap 292 -- Matt Kenseth's lead over second-place Martin Truex Jr. is 8.803 seconds.

Lap 289 -- Jimmie Johnson gives up second place to make his stop. He gets four tires and put a half-round or wedge in the right-rear.

Lap 286 -- Mark Martin pits for four tires after considering a two-tire stop. The crew was ordered to make a wedge adjustment but failed to do so.

Lap 285 -- Elliott Sadler is on pit road for four tires and fuel. He also makes a chassis adjustment.

Lap 282 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. is on pit road with a flat right-front tire. He had battled problems and pits eight laps before his scheduled stop. He drops to 28th, two laps down.

Lap 265 -- Matt Kenseth can make it the rest of the way on one more stop. Kenseth has come full circle since his pit road problem on Lap 165 (he stopped over the pit line and restarted 19th).

Lap 264 -- LEAD CHANGE: Greg Biffle has to put under the green and gives up the lead to Matt Kenseth, who took second three laps earlier. Biffle takes four tires and gets fuel while going a lap down.

Lap 260 -- The rookie trio of Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer and Reed Sorenson runs sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.

Lap 255 -- Fuel is beginning to become a concern, as green-flag pit stops are in the near future for half the field, including leader Greg Biffle.

Lap 240 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. has lost four positions in 10 laps. He is battling a loose racecar, although he has run a high line all day.
