I,ve been looking at that very closely also and a couple things have come up.
First Goodyear changed the construction of their tires for some tracks in the middle of last season and it has affected alot of the teams that did not get to test at these tracks Bristol, Martinsville, Richmond for some reason it seems to have effected HMS more.
Maybe HMS put some flawed info into their set ups and didnt realize it until the effects are what we see now? Remember how the Everham cars got all messed up because of this same thing last year.
Maybe HMS thinking it had its act together didnt put forth the extra effort......naaah not likely.
