NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Tyler Walker was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR on Tuesday for violation of the sanctioning body's substance abuse policy.
Walker, 27, had been driving the No. 36 Toyota for Bill Davis Racing this season. He competed in the first six races, with his highest finish eighth at Martinsville, Va. He did not compete in the series' most recent race last weekend at Mansfield, Ohio.
NASCAR's substance abuse policy, based on "reasonable suspicion," allows the sanctioning organization to broadly administer tests virtually anytime, anywhere.
Since joining NASCAR in 2003, Walker has 19 career Busch Series starts with a highest finish of 12th, and nine career Truck starts.
Former Busch and Truck series driver Kevin Grubb was the last NASCAR driver suspended for violation of the substance abuse policy. He received an indefinite suspension -- his second -- from NASCAR last September following his second violation of the policy.
