Thumbs up Stanley Tools To Sponsor Elliott Sadler In 12 Sprint Cup Races & All-Star Race in '08

Stanley Tools will have a fresh new look in 2008. NASCAR fans will now see the familiar yellow and black colors of the Stanley brand on Elliott Sadler’s Gillett Evernham Motorsports No. 19 Dodge at a dozen races plus the All-Star race during the upcoming NASCAR Sprint Cup season. The Stanley brand has served as a co-primary sponsor on the No. 10 Dodge at Gillett Evernham Motorsports since 2006 as well as an associate sponsor. “We are excited about our increased involvement with Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Elliott Sadler,” said Scott Bannell, Vice President, Brand Marketing at Stanley Works. “We are optimistic about the 2008 season and look forward to seeing the Stanley Tools Dodge at the front of the field.” Stanley will sponsor the No. 19 Dodge for 12 races in 2008, including races at Las Vegas, Phoenix (April 12), Richmond (May 3), Pocono (June 8), Infineon, Indianapolis, Michigan (Aug. 17), New Hampshire (Sept. 14), Lowe’s (Oct. 11), Texas (Nov. 2) and both Bristol races plus the All-Star race in Charlotte. In addition to the No. 19 primary sponsorship, Stanley will continue its involvement as an associate sponsor on the No. 9 Budweiser Dodge of Kasey Kahne and the No. 10 Valvoline Dodge of Patrick Carpentier. Stanley logos will also be on Carpentier’s No. 9 Dodge for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Montreal. "Stanley has been a great partner to the entire Gillett Evernham Motorsports program and I’m honored they will now be one of my primary sponsors,” said Sadler who will also be sponsored by Best Buy for 15 races in the 2008 season. “Gillett Evernham has some very lofty goals on the track in 2008 because we have such strong sponsor support. Stanley is one of the most respected brand names in the world and the kind of company that will help get us to victory lane.” The Stanley Works was a pioneer in the sponsorship of NASCAR racing as one of the first tool companies to provide support for the NASCAR Nationwide Series in the 1980’s and 1990’s, including involvement with teams such as Cecci-Welliver. - Gillett Evernham Motorsports, Press Release

Wink McDonald's to sponsor Sadler for six Cup races

By Official Release

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- McDonald's USA and Gillett Evernham Motorsports have announced that McDonald's will sponsor Elliott Sadler's No. 19 Dodge in six Sprint Cup races in 2008.

"McDonald's is thrilled to partner with Gillett Evernham Motorsports, which is one of the premier teams in the Sprint Cup Series," said John Lewicki, McDonald's senior director of alliance marketing. "This partnership is a great fit as McDonald's, Gillett Evernham Motorsports and Elliott Sadler are all committed to delivering quality experiences to fans and customers alike."

McDonald's will sponsor Sadler's No. 19 Dodge all season and serve as the primary sponsor at Martinsville on March 22, Darlington on May 10, Michigan on June 15, California on Aug. 31, Talladega on Oct. 5 and Atlanta on Oct. 26.

McDonald's logos will also appear on the uniform of Sadler's teammate Kasey Kahne in the 2008 season. McDonald's has sponsored Gillett Evernham Motorsports since 2004 and has continued to grow its involvement.

"McDonald's is obviously one of the great brands of American history and we feel proud a company of its prestige selected Gillett Evernham Motorsports," team co-owner Ray Evernham said. "The sponsor partners we have at this race team are second to none. McDonald's has supported my team and my family for quite a few years now. They are more than just a sponsor, they are my friends."

Sadler will carry "trimary sponsorship" in 2008 with Best Buy and Stanley taking turns serving as primary sponsor along with McDonald's throughout the season.

"The cool thing is I've always been a McDonald's, Best Buy and Stanley kind of guy," Sadler said. "We have some great partners and I am glad they are coming on board with us. McDonald's has been a big part of my life growing up."

Smile Elliott Sadler, Team 19 Best Buy Dodge Twin 150 Preview

Gillett Evernham Motorsports, Press Release

Best Buy Dodge driver Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Gillett Evernham Motorsports team had the 35th-fastest time during Daytona 500 qualifying on Sunday afternoon. Sadler’s best lap of 48.77 seconds/184.521 mph will have him lined up 14th for Thursday afternoon’s first Twin 150 race. During qualifying at the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway, winds were blowing between 20 – 25 mphs under sunny skies.

DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES

Qualifying run:

“When it comes to qualifying at Daytona, you just have to hold the wheel the best you can and get yourself a starting spot for the race on Thursday. The real heartache and real racing starts then. My Best Buy guys brought a good handling race car down here to Daytona and I’m looking forward to the 50th running of the Daytona 500.
Windy conditions:

“There was definitely a lot of head wind down the backstretch and that probably slowed some times down a bit. But, everyone is in the same deal here having to deal with the winds. The fastest cars qualified at the top and everyone else will have to determine their starting spots on Thursday.”

Type of racing to expect in Twin 150:

“I thinks it’s going to be some good racing. We saw a great race in the Budweiser Shootout. I think the new race car put on a good show; hopefully it will be all right in our race on Thursday, too. We have learned the new race car is a bit different than the old car here at Daytona. Handling is going to be a big issue, just like it was at most races with this car last year. We learned a lot about the draft during testing. Two cars can get hooked up, bump draft pretty well and pass a lot of cars. The cars are going to slide around a lot. The media is going to have a lot to write about, especially after Thursday’s qualifying races. It should be pretty fun to watch.

Gillette Evernham Motorsports efforts this week:

These guys have put together a great effort and we’re all working together just great. Rodney (Childers – Team Director) and the other directors are all sharing information and trying to make all our cars fast. Like I said during testing, Kasey (Kahne) and I are going to work more closely together and help each other out this year; and now we have Patrick Carpentier who has looked good at Daytona for his first time here. I watched Kasey’s car during the Budweiser Shootout and liked what I saw in how his Dodge handled. We have new people and new things going on at the shop, and we are all learning each other and the new terminology really fast. We are very optimistic about the changes we have made. I know the 19 team has a lot more experience on our team than last year and I think that is going to help me as a driver through the long haul of the season.”

Wink Q&A With Dodge NSCS Driver Elliott Sadler

Clear!Blue Communications For Dodge Motorsports, Press Release

ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Best Buy Dodge Charger)

ON GETTING OUT TO PRACTICE TODAY:

“I don’t know if we are or not. I told them not to rush to get to practice. I’ve got one of the best cars that I’ve ever had in my life here at Daytona and I want to make sure that we get it right and get everything back straight before we go to practice. If we don’t make it out today it’s not a big deal. It’s a shame what we went through yesterday with the right front tire problems as fast as that car was. We didn’t need any help at all to make our way to the front, so I feel like we’ve got a legitimate shot to win the Daytona 500. It’s probably one of the best chances that I’ve ever had and I’ve got some pretty good finishes here in the Daytona 500, so I’m looking forward to Sunday. We know it’s going to be tough. We’re going to have to do a lot teamwork to race with Hendrick and Gibbs – those guys raced good in the Shootout and in the Duels so hopefully we can get in there and do a good job.”

ARE YOU CONFIDENT WITH THE RIGHT FRONT TIRES CAN MAKE IT A FULL FUEL RUN BY SUNDAY?

“Yeah, the more rubber we lay on the track with the truck and the Nationwide cars will help us as far as the tire wear is concerned. Kasey Kahne learned some things, my teammate, yesterday in the Duels to help us for Sunday with tire pressures and things like that. We think we’re going to have the problem handled. We are just going to make sure that the bolts and nuts are back tight. We’ll make a good fuel run on this engine, get a good plug check and that’s it. I don’t think we need any adjustments for Sunday.”

THIS CAR WAS SO GOOD THAT YOU DIDN’T WANT TO PULL OUT THE BACKUP CAR?

“Yeah, I mean this car was so good that we didn’t even practice the second practice on Wednesday it was so good. We made us a 15 lap run on Wednesday morning and I told them I can’t think of one thing to change on this thing to make it better. I’m very proud of my guys. We had a great test down here. They have brought me a car good enough to win the Daytona 500 and as a driver that is all I can ask for. We’re going to go take this Best Buy Dodge and go out there and try to be competitive on Sunday and give ourselves a great shot to be in contention to win this thing. That’s all we can ask for.”

REACTION TO THE PROBATION PENALTIES GIVEN TO TONY STEWART AND KURT BUSCH:

“I really don’t know what probation is. I think that is a little bit more lenient than what they would have been in the past, so maybe they are sticking to their guns by letting drivers be more their own personalities. I think it’s great for our sport. I think NASCAR could not have written a better intro into the Daytona 500 – people wrecking in practice, people fighting and hitting each other on pit road and stuff like that and Dale (Earnhardt) Jr. winning the first race of the season. I think they’ve had a great start to Speedweeks. I don’t think you can penalize those guys for that. You have two great race car drivers going for the same piece of real estate. Let them be their two personalities. I think it’s going to make better racing for everybody.”

Wink Elliott Sadler California NSCS Race Preview

Gillett Evernham Motorsports, Press Release

Elliott Sadler is an admitted fan of racing and its rich history. This weekend, the driver of the No. 19 Best Buy Dodge for Gillett Evernham Motorsports is hoping past history repeats itself in the Auto Club 500 at California Speedway.

Sadler won at the two-mile oval in fall of 2004 after starting 17th in the field. The team took part in the recent NASCAR Pre-season Thunder Test Session at California Speedway in hopes of learning how the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Seires race car would perform on the two-mile track. Sadler and team are coming off a sixth-place finish in the Daytona 500 that places them seventh in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver Points standings.

Rocking with U2 in 3D: The No. 19 Best Buy Dodge will feature the “U2 3D” concert movie on its hood, sides and decklid at California Speedway this weekend. Filmed in South American during their Vertigo Tour in front of 90,000 fans, “U2 3D” continues the band’s use of modern technology. With this endeavor, they once again raised the bar in creating the first digital, multi-camera real time production of its kind. The film opens February 22nd in IMAX Theaters.

Behind the Hauler Open Interview Session: Elliott Sadler will be available to all interested media behind the No. 19 Best Buy Dodge hauler on Friday, February 22nd at 1:45 p.m.

Sadler gets “Sirius” every week: Sirius NASCAR Radio. Ch. 128 listeners will be entertained and enlightened by Elliott Sadler every Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. throughout the 2008 NASCAR Season. The No. 19 Best Buy Dodge driver will talk about whatever comes to mind with host Dave Moody, the Godfather of NASCAR Radio, on his weekly show “Sirius Speedway” airing from 3 – 7 p.m. Monday – Friday.

ELLIOTT SADLER QUOTES

“It is always nice to return to someplace where you’ve won before, but we’re going back this year with a whole new deal. We have a brand new type car that we’ve never raced there. We’ve only had the one test session with this new car on this type of track. We haven’t raced it on a flat, two-mile oval like California Speedway.

“The good news is we are using the same car we raced at both Bristol, the first Richmond and second Dover races last year. We also had it out to the Las Vegas and California tests last month.

“We were real happy with the car, for the most part, and expect to be even better once we get it on the track this weekend. That is one thing I can say about Rodney Childers (Team Director) and this team; they never give up and work hard to get every car ready to race. Coming off a top-10 finish like we did in Daytona really puts a good shot of confidence in the guys. This team is so ready to have a great year and we’re off to a great start. Now, we just have to keep doing well and stay in the top-12 in points.”

On racing the U2 3D movie paint scheme:

“U2 is one of those bands known around the world. I know so many people who have been to their shows and tell me what an experience it is to see that band live. Now, with this new 3D movie, it seems like everyone in the theater is going to feel like they’ve been to a U2 show when they leave. California is the perfect place to run this type of scheme. I mean, U2 and a 3D concert film…you don’t get much better.”

Cool Elliott Sadler And No. 19 Best Buy Dodge Team Head To Atlanta Top-10 In Points

Gillett Evernham Motorsports, Press Release

A 12th-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday moved Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Best Buy Dodge team up four spots to ninth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings. Sadler joins Gillett Evernham Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne, who is fourth, in the top 10.

The Emporia, Va. native and his Best Buy team plan to continue the momentum this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The 1.54-mile oval in Hampton, Ga. is the fastest track on the NASCAR circuit. Ryan Newman’s 193.124 mph lap at this race last year edged Martin Truex Jr.’s lap of 193.105 mph at the second Texas Motor Speedway race as the fastest qualifying laps in 2007.

Drivers and teams should have their hands full figuring out the new Sprint Cup Series car making its Atlanta debut. The new cars should be slower but more difficult to drive.

Sadler Wins You Win:

Throughout the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Best Buy Reward Zone members who join Elliott Sadler’s racing club online are eligible for prizes plus earn bonus points whenever Sadler records a top-10 finish. Sign up today at www.myrewardzone.com

Sadler gets “Sirius” every week:

Sirius NASCAR Radio. Ch. 128 listeners will be entertained and enlightened by Elliott Sadler every Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. throughout the 2008 NASCAR Season. The No. 19 driver will talk about whatever comes to mind with host Dave Moody, the Godfather of NASCAR Radio, on his weekly show “Sirius Speedway” airing from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Elliott Sadler Quotes

ON RACING ATLANTA -
“This track is the fastest one on the circuit – hands down. You spend so much time in the corners because of how they have it laid out. The turns are so long, it seems like you spend most of your day running through those 24-degree high banks just to go straight for a short period of time. Personally, I like that high line around the track and it works for me.

TYPE OF RACE YOU EXPECT BASED ON WHAT YOU SAW IN LAS VEGAS -

“The tracks are so similar in the way they’re laid out that, if you had a good day in Vegas, you look forward to repeating it at Atlanta. The longer our car ran under green, the better we got towards the end. You can look for some side-by-side racing as guys will pick up speed and others drop off throughout the race. The tires for Las Vegas were very hard and didn’t wear too much. I hope that won’t be the case this weekend.

“Some guys like to run the high side; and I’m one of them. It worked out great for us last week in Las Vegas and the car was really hooked up at the end. I know Rodney (Childers, Team Director) and the team were taking a lot of notes we can use this weekend. We’re just like everyone else trying to figure this new car out. But the good news is we’re getting a handle on it pretty fast, and that’s what you need to do in these first five races.”

2008 SEASON – “It is a great feeling to be top-10 in points. The goal of myself, and everyone else in that garage, is to make the Chase for the Championship. You can’t do it all in one race, so we’re just trying to do the best we can one race at a time. It’s great to see two Gillett Evernham Dodges in the top-10 with Kasey being fourth right now and us in ninth. Rodney, the team and all of us are communicating and making sure we learn as much as possible every time we get on that track.”

Rodney Childers, Team Director Quotes

ATLANTA – “We had a good finish there in Las Vegas. And I’ll be honest with you; I was already looking forward to Atlanta before Vegas. Now, I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Elliott is really good at running the top right up there by the wall and saving his tires. The track is abrasive and tires fall off a lot. If we can get the car balanced good, we’ll be really good.”

Wink Virginian Sadler Debuts McDonald's Paint Scheme On No. 19 Dodge At Martinsville Speed

Gillett Evernham Motorsports, Press Release

No. 19 Dodge driver Elliott Sadler carries the familiar McDonald’s paint scheme this weekend in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series race at Martinsville Speedway. Sadler will race the McDonald’s car six times in 2007 joining a small group of Sprint Cup drivers who have carried the Golden Arches paint scheme through the years. The list includes Hut Stricklin, Jimmy Spencer, plus Gillett Evernham Motorsports drivers Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne.

The Emporia, Va. native always enjoys racing in his home state. At Martinsville, Sadler has led three races for 49 laps, including 10 laps in this race last year. He has completed 96.7% race laps in 18 starts at the .526-mile track. Sadler is 20th in points, one point behind 19th and 87 from 12th place.

One thing Sadler hasn’t had much success with at Martinsville is the concession stand. That’s where their famous pink hot dogs (CF Note: Jesse James Hot Dogs - Under two dollars a pack at Food Lion) slathered with chili and onions are served by the thousands. As popular as they are, they haven’t made an impression on the driver who still holds the record for most Bologna burgers eaten at one time (16) at nearby South Boston Speedway.

Elliott Sadler Quotes:

McDONALD’S SPONSORSHIP:

“First off, it is going to be great having the McDonald’s colors and logo on our car this weekend. When they told me about this last year, it was more of an honor than anything else. Their logo is one of the most recognized in the world and we’re going to represent them in Martinsville; one of the most historic tracks on the NASCAR circuit and in my home state. They told me they serve more than 47 million people a day in 30,000 restaurants in 120 countries around the world. That’s amazing. I grew up in Emporia (Virginia) two hours from Martinsville and I go past a lot of McDonald’s on the way here. I know because I’ve visited a lot of them through the years.”

MARTINSVILLE:

“To be successful at Martinsville, you need to take care of your brakes all afternoon. Once you get the car to rotate in the center of the corner, you’re off to a good start. And, when you can do that and have plenty of forward bite to come off that corner, you’re really going to have a really good day. Those are the mechanical keys to racing at Martinsville. The other part is to just stay out of everyone else’s mess. Things happen quickly on a short track and you can be done before you know what happened.”

MARTINSVILLE HOT DOGS:

“Okay, I’m going to get in some trouble here, but I can’t eat anything that turns the bun pink. Clay Campbell, his family and all the great people that run Martinsville do a great job, but I can't eat one of those hot dogs there. Now, the guys on the team are going to be all over that concession stand in the infield, I can guarantee you that much. They like, no they love, to eat and the track is so small they can slide by there on the way back and forth to the truck very easily.
“When I ate 16 bologna burgers at South Boston (Va.) Speedway years ago - which is still a record - that was something totally different. All you need on those is grilled onions and lots of mustard. The hot dogs at Martinsville have onion, chili and a whole bunch of other stuff - that’s not for me.”

Behind the Hauler Open Interview Session:

Elliott Sadler will be available to all interested media behind the No. 19 McDonald’s hauler on Friday, March 28th at 10:45 a.m.
Making times for Martinsville:

Qualifying is set for 3:40 p.m. (ET) Friday on MRN Radio and SPEED-TV. Race time Sunday is 2 p.m. MRN Radio and Fox-TV with 500 laps as the distance.
Sadler on Trackside Live at Martinsville:

After the starting grid is set, Sadler will join the “Trackside Live” crew on the Speed-TV stage at Martinsville on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
Sadler gets “Sirius” every week:

Elliott Sadler appears every Tuesday on Sirius NASCAR Radio. Ch. 128 at 4:40 p.m. throughout the 2008 NASCAR Season. The No. 19 Dodge driver will talk about whatever comes to mind with host Dave Moody whose show “Sirius Speedway” airs 3 to 7 p.m. each weekday.
Car Notes

· The No. 19 McDonald’s Dodge will run GEM Chassis No. 221 this weekend; a brand new car never raced and tested last fall in Atlanta.

Martinsville Speedway
