Car fan has NASCAR questions
Hi there, I am new to the forum and new to NASCAR, in the past I have been an F1, SCCA and rally guy but now I am becoming more and more interested NASCAR. It’s probably the most accessible form of auto racing here in the states and they are thinking of putting a track up here near the emerald city.
So, I have some questions about the racing series and especially the cars. If you have answers that would be great, if not maybe you know of some good sources on the web for information.
Now, from what I understand the cars used in racing are rear wheel drive, tube framed chassis with an overhead valve V-8. Are these cars required to use the same engines or is there just a displacement limit? I understand that power adders/forced induction is not allowed, what types of induction systems do the cars run? Was there a time when there was a production requirement for the cars to be run? If so when did this Homologation era end?
I guess I am interested in what makes one car different than the others.
Thanks for any help you can give.
