Who believes in that? I know i do, cuz at work the other day, I dropped a recees cup on the floor, and within 3 seconds i picked it up and ate it. Still tasted fine.

The 5 second rule is great. But there are definite situations that it doesn't apply. I'm wondering where you work gordonfan. Most work places I would probably have a no second rule. My house, totally fine, just have to check for cat hairs. Most tables I don't care, but some places are really a no-no. That and I usually don't do it if people are watching either hehe.

I use it all the time but only at home, like Kerribear I don't do it if other people are watching either, but if it's just me and my family I'll do it. I would not do it at a store, movie theater, etc. My whole family does it, if we're sitting around talking and someone drops a chip or something on the floor we all say "5 second" rule and pick it up. My grandma taught us all about the rule because she did it all the time.

you guys ever watch mythbusters ? they tried all that with petri dishes to determine the bacterial contamination... what they found was the toilet seat had the most sterile environment! lol have to check it out guys!

That's why I don't watch shows like that bigE fan...lol...I don't want to know what kind of germs are in my house. If I die because I ate something after I dropped it on the floor and it had something nasty on it, atleast I would die eating something good...lol...j/k.

Depends where I am - but the 5 second rule is standard in my life
