I am new to NASCAR, but ended up getting some great seats for the race this weekend at Daytona...I was wondering if any of y'all had any suggestions about how to have a good experience. I have been told by different people any number of times that I should arrive (times ranging from 9:00 AM to 4:00PM) and was trying to figure out what people do before the race. Is there tailgating like at a football game? Is there fan-friendly stuff to do (I don't have a Fan Zone pass)? Since there will be 240,000 people there, it is obviously advisable to get to the track early...I'm just wondering what the scene is like.

Hmm......... You should get that Nextel Fanview. That would be a good experience right there. You get practice speeds and all kinds of stuff.

Yeah i heard that thing is awesome even some of the crews use it sometimes.. not sure if that is true but it looks neat

I know that while the Nextel guys were at Infineon David Gilliland`s crew were using them to get David`s practice speeds. I`m gonna get one one of these days.

Life is short, Eat it HOT!

Basically hung out in the free parking area with some friends, but it was fairly deserted...most people were closer to the track as of 3 hours before the race. I was hoping to avoid spending all my cash before the race started, so I kept it real in the lot.
