Drinking is dumb, but driving while drunk is even dumber!!!

Just today, We had 5 ppl about 3 years younger then me involved in a car crash at about 1AM, 1 of the ppl in it were pregnate and one of the boys didnt make it. And the problem is, even though u cant beleive it, it is hard to feel bad. They were drinking, then went driving. ppl always ask me to go to parties with them, and u end up drinking, and the problem is, u cant control urself, and u decide to go on a drive. Its just crazy, and the prob with this town is, I can almost garrentee that their will be another party next week and ppl will be drinking their as well! Its crazy, we had someone crash while drunk just like 2 months ago, and yet ppl still dont get the point. I knew their was a reason why I didnt drink, and now I NEVER will!!!

tough deal, that has been a pretty big problem here too... kids in high school getting drunk and driving, then wrecking and dying... just not worth it. we did that when we were kids too, so why is it so devastating now? more cars on the road, kids at 16 Expect to get cars, I know ya will debate me on it, but maturity is not there, not as individuals, but when groups of kids get together thinking they know it all and are invincible... been there... older now, experienced life more, feel like I have more to loose now than I did then.. as a kid ya don't realize what lies ahead... I hope ya get through it ok. I lost a good friend and teammate from high school during the summer after our senior year... kids just don't have all the maturity to make the right choices all the time, when you make mistakes or see others make them you hopefully learn from it. hope you don't make the same mistakes.

yea, I agree. Drinking is bad, but if u are gonna do it, u need to atleast be responsible enough not to do anything dumb. And maybe it is the small towns fault for having nothing to do and forcing ppl to have fun only by drinking, but we cant put full blame on that. You can always find something to do without making dumb decisions like that. That is just the reason why i dont drink or smoke for that matter, and I never will!!!

Don't blame the "town", its no ones fault but the idiots who go flying down the highway while under the influence of a substance that makes them wreckless. I have never driven with anyone that is drunk and never will. I drink ALL THE TIME as you can tell by my comments on this blog (KIDDING!!), but when I do I don't drive anywhere. If I need to get somewhere unexpectedly, I have someone (my wife) drive me. It's pretty simple really...

I agree with kkfan, some teenagers are really mature and responsible and some are just plain dumb...I for one have been around alot of drunk people (My Dad, My uncles) threw the years so I know what drinking and driving can do. I rode with my Dad alot when he was drunk when I was little, Of course not knowing then the dangers of it. I don't like the fact that people like the kids that got killed had to go and get drunk then drive and get killed because that just makes people say "Well they were just 16, they shouldn't of been driving anyways" kids that do drink and drive screw it up for kids like me (Even though I'm not diving yet) who are responsible and mature. Because then people think that the legal driving age should be bumped up to 18 or even 21. I will never drink and drive because of the way I grew up around that stuff, I'm not saying that I will never drink in my life because I probably will and if so I will drink when I'm 21, the legal drinking age not when I'm 16...that's just not right at all...also not right is getting completly wasted from drinking...sure you can have a few beers but drinking to the point where your falling over is really stupid and pointless
