Here's a story that was in my local paper today. It was really cute so I thought I'd share it.

"Speedy bolts his crib at a snail's pace"

If the hare put him up to it, the tortoise isn't talking. All we ever know for sure is this: On the nite of 7/26, Speedy escaped. He bolted some time between 6 and 8 p.m. after his owners came home and let him outside for fresh air. He made a fairly clean break, knocking over a cinderblock in the wall of his backyard corral, then crawling out.
The owners were horrified to find their beloved gone AWOL. This was the sulcata tortoise they had fallen for in '02 when the owner went into a pet store to buy crickets to feed her frogs and iguana. This was the tortoise who grew from the size of a silver dollar to a 35 pounder who eats romaine lettuce and squash. After Speedy vanished, the owners became so distraught they almost plowed under the garden they'd planted for him.
Speedy outgrew the saucer where hw used to sit on the table when the owners fed him breakfast cereal w/a spoon.
By all accounts, Speedy had it good. Why he ran away is anybody's guess. The owners, so anguished, they put up a $500 reward, couldn't believe their luck when someone showed up with a lab named Maddie. A whiff of Speedy's bedding gave Maddie the scent. She led them thru the yard, down a hill, along a canal and across a field untril the trail went cold. If the dog was in on a coverup, she isn't talking. But the owners didn't give up.
On the nite of 8/4, more than 2 miles from home and 9 days after Speedy escaped, the owner was out looking for her when a blur of motion caught her eye. There, in a dusty field along a fence that runs parallel to an Interstate in an area where the dog, Maddie had trailed the scent, was a familiar hump. When Speedy saw the owner, he did what any tortoise would do. He went into his shell. "It's OK", Mama's here", the owner said.
Chagrined or elated - we will never know how Speedy felt. The owner picked him up and carried him home. And the tortoise kept his thoughts to himself.

Man, that was a lot of typing! I have new respect for Driv3r8!!

Thanks, MrsRyan, at least one person read this. I've been having horrible on-line problems with my useless dial-up and I'm ready to beat on something. Too bad I don't have my #48 car yet, the E-bayer is shipping the "3rd" car. We'll see if I get that one.

Smoke, have you reported this problem to eBay yet? If not please do so now. It is simple to do, just file an Item Not Received. (to do this go to the dispute console on MY eBay) What this does is if you paid with your paypal account, after the transaction is 21 days old paypal takes the money back from the seller. That gets their attention, I learned this the hard way. I ordered a Nascar hoodie and got it for only $8.00, but it took me a month to get it. It is not right that you are waiting on a 3rd car, something is wrong and when they loose the money until you tell paypal you have received the item, it makes the seller move faster and now eBay/paypal is watching them. It is possible that the seller didn't even have the car when you ordered it and now that JJ has won the Cup, they are probably having to pay more for the car. Let paypal work for you, my friend! Please keep me posted on this, you know I care.

Sorry about your dial up service. I have had internet problems since I moved and have the Billy-Bob cable company. (Knowledge) Mine is high speed cable, and the baby ain't cheap! ($48.00 a month) I lose my internet connection all the time and have to unplug the modem and restart the computer on a regular basis. Today it went out again, so again I called them, it took an hour to get through to them on the phone. I love it when you call and have gone all through the menu to report an internet problem and it says "You can also contact us on the web at......" !!! Well no I can't or I would not be calling you to report a problem with the internet! Today after going through all that then I get a recording that the whole county is off line (and was off for 4 hours). ~LOL~ Only with the Billy-Bob cable!!! So I feel what you are going through Sista!

I got my car FINALLY! The seller was very very nice about it but I doubt I'll ever see those other 2 cars that "got sent". If I do get one, I'll send one to you so you can have a #48 voodoo car too! How's your #24 car coming?

Ohhh, Billy Bob Cable doesn't sound like any fun at all. I can't stand that too, when you're on hold and they say that about "you can also visit us on the internet - you're right. If I wanted to do that I would do it.

Now my isp provider is telling me I need to change browsers. So I'll try that - I'm a work right now and no problems! Thanks, at least I'm not along in my problems!
