Team Yates - Nice stats- ur in the past, i'm in the present
Whoa! hold on here. I never said RYR didn't have some awesome years. Read the initial post subject again. When I started this thread I floated the notion that it was bad at RYR and it was going to get worse.
Dale Jarrett 2006 stats
0 wins
0 top 5's
2 top 10's
avg finish 23.7
Elliot Sadler
0 wins
1 top 5
6 top 10's
avg finish 21.3
Now a couple months later, losing both drivers, firing both crew chiefs, and probably a whole change in the shop personnel, it's probably as bad as it's going to get. They have alot of catch up to do after falling technically so far behind the other teams. I personnally think RYR has focused so much on making money to pay for their new big shop, that they have lost their way on how to set up cars for their teams. I repeat Dale and Elliot are good drivers, but if their aero package and suspension setups aren't getting the job done, it's the team's fault. I think Elliot got frustrated when this wasn't being addressed. They seem to have alot of engine problems too, which surprises me, when supposedly Yates builds all engines for Roush too. Roush doesn't seem to lose engines as often.
Don't think so, it's just a downward spiral. OMG - another DNF for Dale Jarrett. I bet he can't wait to go to Toyota. I bet Elliot Sadler would really like another ride. I could see why. I wonder if Ford's cost cuttings must be impacting Engineering Support of Nascar, and is finally coming to roost. Yates must not have the Engineering resources that Roush has for chassis, suspension, and aero packages. Sure Ford's power is good, but they're making it by bandaging a 30 year old engine design that's pretty much a throw away engine after each race.
Wonder if Ford is really committed to staying Nascar?

I see Sadler has decided to cut his losses and look for another ride. RYR also lost both his crew chiefs. The new white hope Gilliland announcement was delayed. ? Maybe having second thoughts about boarding the sinking ship.

The pain continues

My head would be elsewhere if my team had turned into a joke. The crew chief issue we'll have to wait and see. If he continues to employ a bunch of good old boys who only know how to setup a car "the way my pappy did" then they'll still be losing. KUDOS? things are such a disaster there, he had no choice, but to clean house. M&M's? I'm sure any decision is financially motivated. Their contract could have a huge penalty for pulling out early, who knows, it's just a big stretch to assume they stayed on because they like RYR. You can cry all you want about the drivers, but RYR's problems aren't the drivers, it's about a team that has failed to keep up with the technology it takes to win, the crew chiefs are alot to blame. DJ and Sadler are talented and left for a reason!!

Just so you know, I did read your first post, I read all of them!!! I was trying to explain the facts, you said the crew chiefs left, they didn't, they were fired!! You said that Gilliland is having second thoughts, they were making sure the contract was written solidly!! You said we'll have to wait and see about the crew chief issue, I was showing you that he has a proven track record!! You said I was crying about the drivers, I was stating that they didn't do much until they joined up with Robert!! You said they are talented drivers - yeah, because of their time spent with Yates and Parrott. You said that you never said that they didn't have some awesome years, well nowhere in any of your posts did I see where you did say they had awesome years. And as far as your little title, "ur in the past, im in the present" - well I believe that is what stats are!!!!
I seem to remember saying RYR lost their crew chiefs, later I posted they were fired. Sorry for originally mistating the facts, but I'd appreciate it if you don't misquote me. In regards to the contract, I said MAYBE Gilliland was having second thoughts. It was a guess, based on delay of a contract signing. Sure they're going to paint a rosy picture to the press, but we won't really ever know why it was delayed. Don't believe everything you read or hear, especially in racing. RYR's "proven track record" didn't mean anything the last couple of years. Except possibly helping them to retain big dollar endorsements. Past performance doesn't guarantee future performance. I still think DJ and Elliot are talented drivers, just an opinion, sure you have to give credit to people they've spent time with in the past. Could DJ have done well racing with another team when he was in his prime? We'll never know. But in the present was RYR holding them back? It seems the drivers felt that way, or why would they have left? I think if they were happy, they would have stayed on. Why do you think they left? Can RYR become a winning team again? Sure. Will they? We'll have to wait and see. I pretty much figured anyone with any past experience here already knows RYR has had great success in the past, and it didn't need stating. Stats? I guess the past and current stats are relevant to what I was trying to discuss here (until this thread got side tracked with some inside joke on pills or something). I just didn't know if it was too cruel to point out your inputting the past stats really gave credence to my initial post. The stats show that RYR is/was in a downward slide. I've followed DJ for years, and am really frustrated with the direction the team has gone. I could go on here to discuss my distaste for Roush, etc. Christ, I'm going to have to start rooting for the Woods brothers. LOL My opinion is RYR is in alot worse place since it lost it's drivers, especially the way it went down. IMHO firing his crew chiefs was a move in the right direction. My real fear is that RYR could get squeezed out with Toyota coming in and Roush maybe being forced to split it's team up. This is one guess I'm making that I hope won't come true.
Can we have different opinions, sure. Will I blindly love a team, no.
Ok, let me have it!

Sorry for the interruption, TeamYates and thetruth, if I could just say ..you guys are nuts, ha ha! I am enjoying your discussion. Ok, back to TeamYates response, soon I hope.

Excuse the hell out of me for misquoting you, but it was only in the fact that I inadvertently omitted the word "Maybe", but that was the only place that I supposedly "misquoted" you. You never said anything about the crew chiefs quitting verses being fired until after I stated that they were fired and you only 'honorably" mentioned it at the end of "your stat" list. So sorry that I omitted the word "maybe", but as said, that was only place that I so say "misquoted" you. Your post makes it sound like I misquoted everything you said! Accidently omit one word and be hanged: "I would appreciate it if you don't misquote me". < Your quote.
