Any advice from experienced persons? So I went yesterday and had to wait to get called back today. Met with the counsil today (they were pretty brutal) and am being called back thursday too. A major thing is it's a murder/death penalty case. Yesterday we had to fill out 28 pages of questions. So i'm already on the panel they will choose the jury from. Should I try like hell to run the other way, or just be honest and see what comes of it? What would you do?

Sorry Kerri, I have no first hand experience serving on a jury. The only time I was ever called up was when I was in college and it was the week of finals, so I got excused before I had to go.
I do believe that you are in too deep to run now. So do your civic duty and weigh the facts of the case and let that be your barometer. Thanks for doing your part, I am sure that you will make the right decisions.

I've been called for Jury duty several times. But I have never been picked for a jury. The most recent time, I did go through the questioning process by the attorney's and was not selected.
All you can do right now is answer the questionaire honestly, and hope for the best.
if you want out....tell them you are a huge supporter of the death penalty... if the defendant is of ethnic origin... make a few racial remarks... if alcohol is involved ... tell stories about drunk drivers affecting your life... and all drunks should pay! if it is a rape/ abuse tell false stories of how you were affected by a situation... tell them you went to high school with the defense atty...
If you want to experience the judicial system... go for it, be honest. I sat on a jury.. not a big case.. it is amazing jury trials are not fair.. it is about how can we get this guy convicted so we can get back to our lives...
what ever your decision, just do what you personally can live with

haha....I like bigE's thinking, but luckily I've never had to go through the questioning. I got called for it this past summer, but somehow I was one of the ten or so lucky people who didn't even have to get questioned at all.

But with advances in modern science and my high level income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300.
Update - Well I didn't get chosen, but did have to sit and be questioned all day long. Crazy case. I just looked up some info on it online and the murders were in 2000, why this long wait for trial? Apparently he was on trial in 2003 but was found mentally incompetant by 3 doctors. I think it would've been rough.
