Let's Play Remember When

List 5 things you remember growing up that have changed dramaticly since then...(the older you are the more has changed)

1. Growing up I had no computer. No one I knew had one.

2. No one I knew had a cell phone. We had a rotary dial phone. No call waiting, no caller ID.

3. We got spanked in school and then when we got home.

4. My family sat down to have dinner not frozen food not processed food not fast food, my mother actualy cooked.

5. When I got my first car gas was 60 cents a gallon.

I'm 52 years old, so there are many things that have changed.
1. 25 cent gasoline
2. 1 wall phone to share
3. 1 TV controlled by my dad
4. Charles chips in a can once-a-week while watching what Dad wanted.
5. Oh yeah, NO COMPUTERS.
6. I could go on and on, when my kids tell me they are bored, I just laugh to myself, they both have TV's in their rooms, cell phones, H/P 17" widescreen notebooks with wireless connection to the internet, PSP's, PS one, PS-2, XBOX360 LIVE with hundreds of games, 2-quads, 2 dirt bikes, and they still say they are bored. TRY DOING HOMEWORK AND READING A BOOK. We are all just victims of the new world we live in.

I am also a "baby boomer" so I have seen plenty of changes!

1. "Gas Wars" Does anyone remember them? I know right before I got my drivers license my mom was excited that she got gas for $0.19 a gallon. As a teenager we could cruise all night on a dollar!

2. Remember when there were no self service gas stations? Not only was gas cheaper, but they pumped it for you and even offered to check under the hood!

3. When I was about 12 I got a portable "transistor radio" for Christmas. It was AM only, of course, small enough to fit in the palm of my hand and even had ear plugs with it. That was cutting edge and I was the envy of my friends. Now it's Ipods and MP3 players.

4. Telephones were all rotary dial and we even had a party line. Anyone even know what that is today? ~LOL~

5. Black and white TV, and only 3 channels. If the president was making a speech we were just out of luck! If you were lucky enough to have a remote control, it was connected by a wire! ROFL

1- 3 channels on t.v and not 24/7 ( the indian test pattern? )

2- sitting in your dads lap and going down the road
70 miles an hour. ( no child seats )

3- gas wars at 20 cents a gallon.

4- no metal detectors or police dept. in your school

5-watching a nascar race on wide world of sports.
as they flip back and forth between the race and an
evel kneivel motorcycle jump.
