Make sure you watch for motorcycles, not just other cars.
U might say it is more the car drivers fault, but we had acouple that had the cycle running from the cops.

we had one last week where the guy on the bike was jacking around and slid his bike under a parked semi.... try and convince me it was the truck drivers fault....

Exactly, I agree with u. Some say it is the driver of the other vehicles fault, but it usually is not. The motorcylces know that they are hard to see, which is why they need to pay attention alittle more.

I will be taking my motorcycle certification in about a month. My husband has been riding since he was 12 a long long long time ago.lol. The trend I see is that gas prices are so high. Our Harley even though we paid 18g s for it gets 50 miles per gallon vs our ford f150 that gets 18. The difference is the whole motorcycle payment when you figure my hubby drives 60 miles round trip to work each day. I agree with the fact that novice bikers should have at least 1000 miles experience befor they take it over 55 mph or on a major interstate. Even after I buy my bike being a first time driver I will spend 1 or 2 hours a night practicing on side streets and back roads befor I ever take it on the highway.

Watch for motorcycles I could be the rider you hit!!!!!

I wasn't trying to say that ALL motorcycle accidents are caused because of car drivers. Most are, at least in my experience. Not to sound arogant, but in my profession, I am usually one of the first people on the scene of any auto accident with injuries, and we find out what happened. In my experience, 90% of motorcycle accidents are car drivers fault. I would say about 1 in 10 are crazy motorcycle riders running into something or off the road. Those get put on the news usually. I am not trying to argue with anyone on this point, I am just stating my experience with this subject.

Ok Florida just passed several new laws in reguards to reckless motorcycle driving. If your front wheel leaves the ground. 1st offence 1000 2nd offence 5000 3rd offence up to 5 years in jail and they repo your bike.

If you get caught doing 50 plus miles over the limit 1st time 1000 2nd time 5000 3 time loss of motorcycle liscense and possible jail time they repo your bike.

Just thought Id update you...

Good to hear. Im not sure that would help here though. It seesm like they all follow the rules, but cannot control their driving. and they dont watch where they are going.

OK Gordonfan you seem dead set against motorcyclist. And yes there are reckless motorcycle riders. Id say as long as my husband and I have been riding about 1 out of every 20+ is what I would consider a bad driver. As I stated befor and it was not an OPPINION but a FACT that 70% of crashes involving a car the car is faulted. That does not mean that the cyclist did not have some roll in the events leading up to the accident but fact is fact. I guess this is a bad issue in your area. Where I am from there are more "hot rod" high speed accidents involving street racing, drag racing ect. Prime example look at Hulk Hogans son. I guess what I am saying is that if you are a bad driver you are a bad driver and it doesnt much matter what vehicle you drive. I think though you could possible come off as offensive by classifing "every motorcycle rider" as a bad reckless driver. Just as I cant say that every 20 year old is a bad driver. Once again it is a fact that IN OUR AREA seniors and teenagers are faulted in 75% of all car recks. Basicly every time I get on the back of a motorcycle even if my husband was as defensive and carful as he could be that one mistake could and would most likly be fatal. I think it is first the cyclist responsibility to ride safe but it as just as much the vehicles responsibility to be aware. I promis I will not post anything elese on this subject.

Thanks for listening
