Smoke's Before & After Pix of Ride

Well, I know this thread pales in comparison to Driv3r's thread but I'm gonna post it anyway! Below are the before and after pix of my '89 Jimmy S-15. First pic is when I brought it home. It's got dual flowmasters on it now. Best a 6 cylinder can sound! I've been thinking about putting a V8 in it when the engine lets go. But I'd probably get in a lot of trouble if I did that.

Trying this again!!

Tried a pic of Smoke first!

Now, that's a really nice ride. I have always been partial to that body style...much more room inside and the handling is superior to the S-10 S-15 that GM came out with in 94-95. Owned a 94 Bravada with this body style and traded it in on a S-10 in '98...kicked myself for years after that...now, the wife is driving an HHR and loves it.

Back to the Smoke8 mo-bile! Super job, great taste and lowered as you like it. You should be justifiably proud of your work. Don;t try the v-8 thing...much too much trouble refitting with upgraded computers, sensors etc. Whan (and if) your 4.3, 6 cyl give out; GM has a great alternative upgrade that will accomodate your on-board computers etc. But, keep in mind; that 4.3 is as torquey an engine as most people would want...it has been a great main-stay for years. That is one thing that I do not like about GM (almost the only thing)...they develop a great engine, then move away from it after a few years...sometimes, the newer engine needs a few years to work the bugs out...oh well, that's just an old service manager grumbling.

Great rid, Smoke (could a small #20 fit in the left rear window?

Hey there Mr. Jimmy's lookin' good after his "make-over"!!! I like the way you've lowered him, makes him look like a lean and mean crusin' machine!~LOL~ He looks way better now than when you "adopted" him. I would definitely go with a V-8 when it is time to give that baby a new motor. I love V-8's because you just put your foot down and Vroom-Vroom, you know for sure that baby's got guts! I have always had a love affair with V-8's. I guess that is because my dad retired after 32 years with GM and never owned anything but V-8 Chevy's!

Wamp! I have a #20 sticker in the rear left window and a #8 in the right, ha ha. Hmm, I didn't think about the computer aspect of it. I've had 2 people tell me that the lower bearing in the motor is growling...and it needs new valve seals but the valve seals will wait til the motor gives out...only 132K miles on it. But I haven't owned it for it's whole life, poor thing. I just had the rear main seal done, spendy. Then that shop tells me about the motor. They are fired as my mechanics!

This 4.3 has never had any power going uphill or stepping on the gas...4 seconds later it takes hold. Hate that!

Thanx MrsRyan! He is a lean mean cruisin machine. Thought today, maybe I'll get vanity plates that say "SMOKE". Lol.

KooL

I bought a new 88 Chevy 4.3 S-10 Tahoe 4x4, and a few years back gave it to my son . I now drive a 99 black Silverado 5.3 shorty, and occasionally my 99 LS1 Corvette. Those 4.3's are strong, and yours looks great!
Here are my current rides: 99 Chevy Corvette & 99 Chevy Silverado
