Too Many Rules...Too Comercialized

Ok I have been a big fan of Nascar for years. I am not sure if the tickets being overpriced, the rules changing, or the fact that it is no longer a good ol boy sport has lessend my intrest. I do still love the sport, I watch it when I can but a few years ago I lived ate slept Nascar. Now anymore I watch it but just never with the same excietment. I have been a busey girl this year, with my mother becomming ill, preparing to be a first time grandma, learning to ride and buying my first motorcycle, but still I am in a slump. Even my husband feels the same way. You all know there is nothing like going to the races, the atmosphere, the fans, the sound and smell of burning tires and the deafening sound of 30 plus cars passing you at 200mph....Maybe its because my regular tickets went up 135 per seat that we stopped going and now. I wonder if NASCAR would even give a damn that one time loyal fans like myself and my husband are loosing intrest. I guess they have enough celeberties and movie stars promoting the sport now that somone as insignificant as myself would be missed in the stands.(sarcasim). Anyway I still love this site and the friends Ive made on here and will continue following the sport. Just wanted to speak my mind.
Thanks if you cared to read.
Melanie AKA smokeonfire.

PS maybe the excietment of Tony starting his own team will cause some excietment. It ought to be interesting.......

Don't feel bad smoke you are not the only one that feels that way. I used to watch every race religiously. The last 4 or 5 races I picked going to watch the local Independant Minor League Baseball Team games in our area instead of watching the Nascar races on tv.

Sorry to hear that SOF, but I know where your coming from. I went to my first race in the early 70s ( Dad snuck me into the pits, Wow what a memory ) and have lived and breathed racing ever since. Butt your right this past year something has happened. I cant put my finger on it Butt what I used to feel is just no longer there. I still attend a few races, still involved in alot of local racing and still enjoy my job, Butt its differant now.

NA$CAR don't give a rats behind about us longtime fans. They are banking on a new generation of fans. All you gotta do is look at the pre-race concerts and the list of celeb grand marshalls. Most of us with kids will know some of these people, but a lot of the older fans may not.
The sport has changed dramatically over the last decade and not not always for the best.
Once the France family start to see their revenues shrink, then maybe they will start to look back at some old tapes and start thinking how to get back the older fanbase it has lost.

You know whats even more depressing.lol I have to go buy all new Tony stuff next year. I even bought an orange harley to represent my boy #20. He is changing teams now its time to redecorate. I feel for all you Dale Jr fans whove recently changed from budwieser 8 to #88.But Im keeping the frikin Harley.....Have a great day and thanks for your support on the original posted issue. At least I am not the only one that would like to go to a big NASCAR meeting and say "excuse me did you forget somthing or someone"?
