I've been to NASCAR races at Phoenix and California.
I've been to Las Vegas before.
This will be my first time at a race in Vegas. Any pointers?
What do you think of the CAT? Better than driving?
What do you think about the Neon Garage? Good photo ops?
Any other tips would be much appreciated...
I'm considering going to see my first NASCAR (live) race at Homestead, but have no idea where to get seats. Other than find someone to invite me to a private box, where is the best place to sit?
Having never been to Homestead, I can't give you a specific location to sit, but I have found that you do want to be high enough to be able to see the entire track.
You might want to check out these threads for specifics about Homestead.
If any of our members who have been to Homestead can help it would be most appreciated!

As long as you get seats higher than rows 20 in the front stretch stands you,ll have a good veiw of almost the entire track and the pits.
Dont get tickets in the stands entering turn one the site lines are not good at all. Get to the track early and have a good time.

Tickets arent cheap here, it only cost me $50 to go to Pocono, granted we sat pretty low but still, I thought it was awesome.
Anyways I am contemplating getting a "Cold Pits" pass and going down there on like a Friday for qualifying, or prior to the race on Sunday.
I was wondering:
Whats it like down there?
Can you get drive autographs? or are you not close enough.
Thanks

TIA for any responses.
Hi...
I've heard that going for a high seat is better than picking out a specific spot on the track. Have a nice trip.
I am going to PIR next month. I have not been to a race, so I am not sure what questions I should be asking.
My Sister-in-Law is sending me with her husband, all expense Paid, except spending money. We are flying in from Kalispell, MT. Our transportation from Airport to Hotel to Track and back is all part of the Package. We are watching the Nationwide on Sat and then the Cup race on Sun. I don't know yet where our seats are going to be. I think they are close to the end of pit road and fairly close to the track.
I picked up a Radio Shack Scanner on eBay from a guy that used it @ Pocono. He said it worked OK, but that I should get a a stubby antenna as they work better. So I got one coming. I have (2) headsets and the Splitter. Are the frequencies online up to date or should I buy them at the track?
I picked up a track legal cooler bag and clear plastic tote for goodies. Are binoculars a good thing to have or just more to carry?
Also, we have Pit Passes for both days as well.
Anyway, I would be happy to hear from veterans about anything you think I should know.
Thanx and Regards,
Tim

Reason: more info
The stubby antenna is better and it's better to buy a frequency list at the track just to be on the safe side and it's good to program in the secondary frequencies to cause sometimes they switch channels before or during the race they don't always use the primary channel.I only program in who I want to hear also,if you do all 43 sometimes you will be listening to somebody you don't want to.

I only programmed in two drivers. Junior ,for my Brother-in-Law and Biffle, for me
I used to watch Greg run Saturday Nights at the local track when I lived in Washington. That was 1995. I visited the Pits after several of those races and got to talk to him. I think he was 24 or 25. I have kind of followed him ever since.
Anyway, I think I read somewhere that the frequency lists online are not always accurate. So I will take your advice and buy one at the track. I heard they are around $10.
What do you think about lugging binoculars, is it worth it?
How strict are they at the gate about the size of the (2) bags you are allowed to take? What should I be putting in those bags? Camera - Scanner - Headphones - ??????
Are seat cushions necessary?
Anything that you think a rookie should know. What should I know about using the Pit Pass? I would like to get some driver pictures or signatures. Again, anything at all.
Thanks again,
Tim

Reason: To ad stuff I forgot.
Don't really know how strict they are at PIR about bags and seats but binoculars are good.Stewart is pretty vocal and Waltrip is kinda comical on the scanner too.Have fun.
