I'll try. I ain't much of a picture guy. Hands are usually too full. Beer can in one hand, flask in the other. If ya know what I'm sayin... But I'll try...
Well, yes as a matter of fact, I have been to the races lately!! ~LOL~ I was blessed to get all 3 days of racing and pit passes for the Atlanta race last weekend.
The weekend started out a little wet and very cold. On the drive to Atlanta we kept running into rain, but I could always see blue skies to the north, so I was just positive that we wouldn't get rained out.
We got to Atlanta about 12:30 PM and went straight to the track to get our pit passes from the will call window and we could hear the jet blowers on the track drying it out. Before we left the track to go and check into the hotel and change, we could hear the cars on the track for practice! Wow, we rushed to the hotel, unpacked the needed things and got back there fast!
The weather was brutal on Friday night, Very strong winds and very cold. We spent from 4 PM to 8 PM on pit road. Where I was blessed enough to meet Ryan Newman and Matt Borland!! What a dream come true! Go to my profile and look at the who I want to meet. ~LOL~ Guess I can change that now since I did!
We saw a lot of drivers Friday night. We saw Ward Burton, who was not very friendly at all, much to my surprise! He was walking with one other person and Pam nicely asked for him to sign her program, he looked at her hat (a #12) and said "No". Jeff Burton also refused me, now I am not so keen on the Burton brothers, they both seemed uppity to me. We also saw Jr. There was a mob of fans around him and security was yelling"Let him walk". Pam was able to get ahead of the crowd, but it was such a frenzy that she walked away. Grown people pushing each other to get close to Jr is not something we need to get involved in! We saw a lot of other drivers too, Pam even got to see Tony Stewart!
It is always windy in the pits, I was told and with it being so cold and we were very tired, we thought we would move to the stands to see the rest of qualifying. I was actually under the track when Ryan Newman made his fast pole run!! Yes, I missed it! But this is what I saw and heard once we were in the grandstands:
Whoo~Hoo I would be sitting across from Ryan's pit, like I had hoped and planned!
We sat in the grandstands shivering cold and huddled together. We only stayed for 40 laps of the truck race, and forgot to take any pics of that! But here are some pics from Friday night qualifying:
Everything was just getting set up for the weekend of racing!
The way to my hearts desire, the cars and the drivers!
The garage area was still wet, but we had blue skies!
Getting my beloved #12 ready to qualify!
In my next post I will tell you about Saturday in the pits, the garage and the Busch race.

We got to the track about 10:00 AM and could already hear the cars on the track for practice. We went straight to the pits to see what we could see. Pit road is always such a hub-bub of activity! It was like going to Disney World to me, and my sweet daughter, Pamela, is always up for an adventure and a good time! We walked pit road and watched the Cup cars come and go from the garage. While we were walking by the Busch garage (the Busch cars were now qualifying) I saw the chance and we walked into the garage area. Pam said, "Mom. we aren't suppose to be here". I told her to just come on and we weren't going to get in the way or do any harm and if we were caught with the wrong credentials to be there, we would smile and promptly leave. We had a ball in the Busch garage! We meet a lot of drivers and a couple of really nice fans, one of which who told me that they had the motor out to the #12 car over in the Cup garage, so I wasn't too surprised when I found out he would be starting in the back. We wondered through the garage area and just had fun, being careful of course when the cars came back into the garage from their qualifying runs.
Here are some of the pics from Saturday morning in the pits and garage area.

During Happy Hour we were still in the pits and having fun! Here are some of the pics from Atlanta Happy Hour.
I just like this pic!
~LOL~ Let me tell you my Elliot Sadler story, I was stalking, emm, I mean, emm, looking for 3 people this trip. Ryan Newman, Matt Borland and Elliot Sadler. Since I had already met Ryan and Matt, now it was Elliot I was on the look out for. And he was lined up in the car waiting to be the first one out for Happy Hour. I got a pic from the side, then there was no one standing in front of the car, so I got in front of the car and waved at him! Then I took a pic of him head on in the car, gave him a thumbs up and left! I was very disappointed that I couldn't see his face, but I was sure close to him!So I figure it was a pretty successful stalking, emm, I mean, emm, well you know what I mean! ~LOL~
That is Sexah Elliot in the car!
Jeff Gordon waiting to go out.
Ryan waiting.
I was actually talking to Ryan, don't know if he heard me, but I was Whoo~hooing!
Jr and McMurray ready to go.
The eventual race winner.
Martin Truex Jr in the car.
~LOL~ This one is for bigE and Flash, the Shell car at the Sunoco pumps gettin fuel!
JPM heading out for Happy Hour.

Reason: added another pic!
The Busch race was a lot of fun to watch and I really gained new respect for Kyle Bush, that kid drove his heart out and should have won the race, he had the car to do it, just bad pitting. During the Busch race I put the fanview on Pam's ears so she could hear the radio broadcast during the race. I think we have us a new Nascar fan now! ~LOL~
Pre-race, we are sitting just outside of turn 4
Kyle was fast!
accident!
Smoke lingering over the stands from the accident.
Restart.
Oh-ohh! Jon Wood and Steve Wallace are done for the day!

We are going to the truck race at Martinsville next weekend. Can't stick around for the cup race because its a two day ride to Martinsville, VA. We're leaving Friday afternoon. Spending the night just outside the track. Then we're going over early to the track. Then we'll drive home, hopefully the full way home, but if not we might need to stay over. Oh by the way its just my father and I. We'll be pulling for good ole Johnny Benson
