We are going to the truck race at Martinsville next weekend. Can't stick around for the cup race because its a two day ride to Martinsville, VA. We're leaving Friday afternoon. Spending the night just outside the track. Then we're going over early to the track. Then we'll drive home, hopefully the full way home, but if not we might need to stay over. Oh by the way its just my father and I. We'll be pulling for good ole Johnny Benson
Whoo~Hoo for Johnny, I hope he wins too! You and your dad have a great time and take some pics for us if you can!

Cool Sunday - Prerace and meeting the #12 Team!

We got to the trace at about 9:00 AM and got a close parking place convenient to where we would be exiting after the race. We did the fanzone for about an hour or so. Fanzone is very cool and worth spending some time in, lots of cool fun things to do and freebies! Everyone loves the freebies! The Navy gave out the best stuff, so thank you nascar12rn for telling us about it.

Then we went straight to the pits to watch the teams get it all ready to go racing here are some of the pics:

Whoo~Hoo Race Day! That is AMS behind me!

Pam in Fanzone.

Kasey Kahne's pit.

Tony Stewart's war wagon.

Gluing on the lug nuts.

Kevin Harvicks war wagon.

The #12 Alltel war wagon, our seats for the race are in this pic too!

We settled in at the first pit stall where Ryan Newman and the #12 Alltel team would be working for the day. I started talking to the team members and they were so nice! I wanted to meet Trent Cherry, who writes a blog that I read weekly at That's Racing. I got to meet him and Dennis Terry, who is working for the #11 team this year and writes a weekly blog too. They were so much fun to talk to and were impressed that I had met Ryan twice and that he had remembered me. It was great to laugh and joke with them. Then they all signed the back of my program and Pam's shirt. Pam had decided to wear a Lighting McQueen shirt for race day, since she really doesn't have a driver just yet, and the kid did at least sport a #12 hat all weekend long! We also thought that it was quite appropriate for the #12 team to sign her shirt, since that is the lesson that Lightning McQueen learns in "Cars", that you can't do it alone you need a team. I know that the #12 team are one of the big reasons that Ryan can drive that car, they can be quite good at what they do and it was nice to show them some appreciation. Then they let us go over the wall to take a pic of me with them in front of the war wagon, and even let us change up and Pam got her pic with them too! I was upset at the pic because my hips look huge! Pam said it was the way we sat on the wall, because hers look big too, so she said for me to post her pic too so all could see that! ~LOL~ I love that kid! So here are the pics of us with the #12 Hero's!

This is MY Team!!!!

Thank you #12 Team! Y'all are my hero's!

Then we started the long walk back up through pit road to get to our seats. Mrsmopar has 2 bad knees and walking up stairs and uphill is hard on me at times. We not only had to do this, but to get from where Ryan's pit stall was to our seats also meant walking the length of the frontstretch to get to the tunnel then back to turn one to get to our seats. It was quite a walk, but I did it just fine! Here are some more pics we took on our way back up pit road:

Jr's war wagon.

There were also way more people on pit road than there had been all weekend!

The M&M tires!

The cars have been moved out and are race ready!

Seeing the car sitting there ready to go racing made me even more excited!

I was thinking about you Curves!

NS, WV, stanbo, this one is for y'all!

And my sweet StewartLove this pic is for you!

Pit road was fast becoming a very busy place!

Looking down pit road.

Pam and I on pit road, we're ready to go racin'!

Now how could I not think of you! Every time I saw a car that one of y'all root for I thought of y'all!

This was a new camera, so it was the maiden voyage so to speak, and I didn't even use 1/4 of the 2G memory card! I took 282 pics and video and still had so much memory left, that I wish I had taken more pics. The only down side to the new camera is that the pics are so big and have so much information, that the Gallery here won't let me post them. It takes forever to load them into the photobucket and my videos of the race, 3 minutes of the Cup is too big for the photobucket to handle. Like our friend H8 said, I now need to learn the fine art of jpeg compression! ~LOL~

Cool The Cup Race!

Well we finally got to our grandstand and took the elevator up, since I go down stairs better than up them. I have one bad thing to report about AMS, the sections aren't maked inside at the top and there was no one around to help find seats at all. The only way to see the section would be to climb down the stands and look at the sign. We talked to another fan who had done just that and figured out where our seats were. Pam then left to go to the Nextel trailer and get a headset for the FanView I had rented on Friday. While she was gone, I discovered I was in the wrong section, so I picked up all of our things and moved over 2 sections. Then I was in the wrong row and had to move all the stuff again. Pam got back and we were all set to watch the race. Then we put the FanView into service and it didn't work but for maybe 3 minutes! So I changed the batteries and then it wouldn't work at all "no service" is all I got. She returned from out in the parking lot with 2 new batteries, which did nothing to make the FanView work at all!! So now for the thrid time this Sweet Girl of mine climbs out of the grandstands, out of the stadium and out to the parking lot to the Nextel trailer! This time she bring a Nextel guy with her and they get the new unit to work. They had told Pam that had she had my card that I rented the scanner on, they would've refunded my money! She got a coupon for a free days rental on her second trip! I called them last Thursday, but the guys I need to talk to had already left for the track. I was told to call back Monday and talk to a certain person, so I'll let y'all know what they do for me.

Poor Pam missed the first half of the race trying to get a FanView for us that actually worked and I was pretty upset, I paid $135.00 a seat and she wasn't able to be there for half of the race, but bless her heart for all the walking and agervation she put up with that day for me!

I did something unique while Pam was gone and I had no way of knowing what was happening with the race or the #12 car. I watched Ryan Newman race! He and Kasey Kahne were racing hard and I could tell that Ryan was having problems with the car, he was bad comming off of turn 4. It was very cool to watch it with my own eyes on only have my knowledge of how the car should handle to rely on! I also watch Ryan race Ricky Rudd and Sterling Marlin. It was an experience that I will never forget!

The weather was beautiflul for the race on Sunday and we actually were able to loose 2 layers of clothes and be comfortable in jeans and T-shirts. I meant to put sunscreen on at one time, but then got sidetracked and did get a sunburn on my right wrist. It was so cool to watch the race and hear it and smell it. Pam is now a Nascar fan, I figured that would happen! ~LOL~

Pre-Race and pretty cool!

Yep cool!

My view of the 12 pit, just like I planned and Ryan got the pole!

Driver introductions and that is Jeff Gordon, Curves!

From our seats looking towards the start/finish line and turn 4

Behind the pace car and off pit road!

Let's go racin' already!

Into turns 1 and 2.

Green, Green, Green!

Racin'!

Ryan in the pits.

Kenseth and Stewart.

caution

Jr and Jeff Burton pitting.

Kasey Kahne coming down pit road.

Whoo~Hoo Racin'!

Turex and Martin racin'.

The way the race should've ended!

Jr and Burton pitting again.

leaders leaving pit road.

GO TONY, GO!!

The end of the race, and the camera battery was dead and we wanted to get out before the mass of the crowd, so I didn't get a pic of JJ doing his burn out, not that I really wanted one! ~LOL~

Hi Mrs. Great pics.
Here is a link to a free program called irfanview. Great for reducing pics and very easy to use.
Check it out, it is a program I use all the time for making pics smaller.
