Great article! I'm with the majority here. I don't think Cup drivers should be able to run full time in another series. If Nascar is going to allow it. Then there should be a limit to how many races they can run.

I figured when I posted this article yesterday that most of our members would agree with it. I do too! I think Nascar should do something about it too. Drivers should pick one series to run in fulltime, then limit the amount of other series races they can race in, and not give them ANY points for more than one series. The Nationwide Series is like "Cup Lite" and needs to stand alone and let the drivers who run it shine and get some of the spotlight too.

I won't have to be glued to my hd tv for the entire weekend... might actually get some extra time to spend with my kids and go fishing etc... this way no driver can run all three series or even two.... they will have to select one, and only one... and keep the races the same length.. so the trucks will have a 250, busch a 350 lapper and the cup boys 500... sooo by the end of the event only the cup guys will be on the track... ok so how about opinions on this???
Haha that would be awsome with obviosuly limitations because 43 cup cars 43 nationwide cars and 36 trucks lets see thats 86 cars and 36 trucks which gives us a total 122 cars. Awsome how ill that fit at Martinsville but imaging Talladega that would be an awsome draft. What would happen when a natonwide car runs under the back of a truck while we are at it lets put ARCA the IRL and a top fuel dragster and run it at Eldora now that would be cool.

The article skips right over the problem of fans not watching if Cup guys aren't in the lower series. Viewership would plummet, and it wouldn't recover, if cup racers were banned from other series. The ability of the "pros" to play with the "AAA" guys is unique to NASCAR and I think it is something that can't be done without! Viewership and attendance is what keeps NASCAR running and a "Nationwide Series Only" Drivers series wouldn't last long...

There are much better ways to "promote" the Nationwide regulars and Truck regulars without having the ban the Cup guys: Limit the number of races each cup guy can run in other series; don't give points to cup guys so the Championship goes to a Nationwide/Truck regular; work with broadcast crews to focus stories on Nationwide/Truck regulars throughout the broadcasts; etc.

Busch gives up full time Nationwide run: #18-Kyle Busch said on TNT's pre-race show he won't race a Nationwide car next weekend in Milwaukee. The Cup series is in Sonoma, Calif., and getting back and forth is taxing on drivers. Busch also mentioned he won't compete in the Nationwide event at Memphis, which is the same October weekend the Cup series is in Atlanta. Busch said he's cutting back his schedule slightly because he's too far back to win the Nationwide title, so there's no need to make such trips.(Roanoke Times)(6-16-2008)
