Something else i was wondering about the race was...Who the heck was Joey Lagano going to drive for? The #202 car? I have never seen a #202 car on the track all this year.
Why does NASCAR (or NASCAR.com) use three digit numbers for some cars?
Sometimes different cars (Owners) have to share the same last two digits of a number. For instance, at the end of 2002, Rick Goodwin [Team Bristol] indicated that he would be renewing his Sprint Cup #54 because at the time, he had a full sponsorship from Toys "R" Us [which has since gone away]. After the renewal of his license this year, Travis Carter and his sponsorship [National Guard] wanted to use the Sprint Cup #54 as well. Since no two owners can occupy the same number, NASCAR licensed the #154 to Travis Carter with the caveat that should Rick Goodwin enter an event, they would have to find another number for Carter's car to use at that same event.
In an effort for membership and points to correctly assign championship car owner points, NASCAR has to distinguish between Rick Goodwin (#54) and Travis Carter (#154). Therefore, each owner continues to maintain throughout the season the car number they were originally licensed with. The Same goes for Marcis #71 and Lepage #171, if they enter the same race and both make it, Lepage needs to find a different number.(5-26-2003)

Thank you for that! Understand it now.

He only went one season without winning...and hey Tony has yet to win this year so I guess that means the same thing for him right...Tony is only gonna win every one or two years..
BTW I am a Tony Stewart fan
You are right. Tony hasn't had a great year. But Stewart is a proven Champion in the series. 2 Times. I just like to tease the Little E fans when thier heads get to big about thier driver. The fact that it took him 2 years to win a race is always a good rib. I just love giving Little E fans a hard time. Just because they are so easy to find. LOL.
But hey, look at Mark Martin, he was a one race a year winner for years. And look at the respect he gained.

So if Championships are what it takes to be a great driver then the person you mentioned in the last part of the Sentrace must suck....I mean he has no championships and has finished 2nd so many times...
Thats what I don't get these days...Fans talk about how someone don't got a championship so he sucks but when it comes to Mark he is a great driver..
See I'm a Mark Martin fan also like I said I was for Tony but I mean if your gonna say one person sucks cause they don't have a championship thats saying the same thing about everyone without one...I'm hoping Tony gets a win this year but if he don't then oh well...But I was knowing you would come back with the whole he has two championships.....Question is what has he done this year nothing...what has Jr done this year...He got a win...almost always running up front....The Past can only get you so far.

Never said he "sucked" per se. I just don't think he's worth all the hype. I just don't think people should compare him to JJ, Gordon, Stewart and the like. Yes, Championships count, thats what they are all racing for, the Championship Cup. If you can be content with Jr winning one race this year, Good for you. I am not trying to take that away from you. As for Tony, well I'm kind glad he hasn't got a win in the Toyota. Not much of a fan of the toyota. If he would have stuck with them, I may have abandoned him and rooted for another driver. But I would have made my decision on preformance, not pedigree.
He should be compared to Mark Martin, Casey Mears, Gregg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, etc. But you don't hear that much in the media about them. Where's the media hype for these guys?? It's always Little E this, Little E that. I know, it's a PR push for Nascar because he is the son of a Nascar Legend, but come on, he don't deserve more credit than anyone else out there that has one or two wins per season.
Well as you are I'm also glad Tony is going back to Chevy..
But anyway on to this
Yeah he don't get alot of wins a year but I think if you look at the stats since he got there he is like in Top 5 of most wins(Thats if you only count from his first race to the last race they had) I'm not sure I heard that somewhere...
So to be in the Top 5 of Wins is good..
Also the Champion's you named...Gordon like Stewart no wins
and Yes I know Championships count...but with being a Past Champion don't you think that means you should be winning more then someone with out a championship...
Gordon is a 4 time Champion and this year...No Wins but Jr yeah its one win...one more then Gordan has...
Stewart is a two time champion....but Jr has...one more then then him also..
So what I'm saying is Stewart and Gordon should be winning races since they proven they can do it and have won championships...
Winning one race this year does not the driver make. It don't make him a superstar.
See here is what I mean. I just read BigE's post. "Cup's title to be decided, but plenty of other issues" by the The Associated Press
in it the AP States:
"First up, the Chase field
On paper, it looks to be quite competitive -- four former series champions, hotshot Kyle Busch and NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. are among the 12 who will race for the Sprint Cup title."
Why is Dale E a "superstar"?? Why is he only mentioned? What about C. Edwards, C. Bowyer, D. Hamlin, G. Biffle?? Are not they superstars too???? Or is it because the don't have that "marquee" name that they are not considered superstars???
So as you stated in your previous post, It goes both ways. And if he's such a "superstar" shouldn't he be able to win more than one race every two years and already have a Championship under his belt? I mean, after all , he's a "superstar".
Oh, And NO HARD FEELINGS!!! I have my opinion, and you have yours. I'm not going to change your mind, as well as you'll never change mine. It's what makes us individuals and fans. We all love racing and that's what's important, Our sport!!
He might win this year...I mean if Kyle has bad luck and Jr runs as good as he been running this year...
Then again any of the Top 12 can win thats whats good about the Chase..Even thought I hate the idea cause on Video Games it stopped me from killing them in points lol..
But anyway IDK why they called him that...I guess since he got the biggest fan base idk.....
But hey he is a Daytona 500 winner so I mean thats something right more then Tony has done...so yeah once Jr gets a Championship or two I guess that will make him better then Tony...
and I'm not saying Jr is a Great Driver or anything...He is good..but not great
But probably better then any of us on here which is why I don't call anyone a sucky driver cause there doing better then me by just being there.
Like Kyle Busch..he is a great driver but I don't like his attitude that no one should race him no one should even touch his car...Saying crap like "I would not race him like that" when he done stuff like that..
Like with Carl..and let me say I'm not a Carl fan either...and if Kyle did the same thing Carl did I would have been fine with it...or if he did it to Jr cause the bump and run is part of racing...but Kyle saying he would not race him like that which to me is bullcrap..
I know I've gone off what we was talking about but not really I'm talking about drivers lol.
Well, see. I ain't really saying he's sucky either. But like you said, He's good. And that he is.
"once Jr gets a Championship or two I guess that will make him better then Tony..."
You'll never get me to believe that.. That's a whole 'nother arguement. Tony has a history of racing (it's why I've liked him) in Open Wheel, Indy, and Dirt Track (which is my other passion!!). Besides, as long as Little E has been racing and he still has a lot more years left, he might get 2 or more. Maybe even before Tony gets his third. Ya never know.
Like I said in my previous post. NO HARD FEELINGS!!! I have my opinion, and you have yours. I'm not going to change your mind, as well as you'll never change mine. It's what makes us individuals and fans. We all love racing and that's what's important, Nascar is Our sport!! Your alright in my books!!
Oh, I also was a Dale Sr. fan. So atleast we have that in common!! Just not a big fan of the boy.
