Read before you respond?

I dont know what posts you are reading Smoke, or are just posting to argue? But not one of the posts in this thread said that Jr was the best. In fact in my post I said that Gordon and Tony were probably the two best drivers out there. Did I stutter? All of the rest of us have pointed out that Jr is not a bad driver, certainly not a subpar driver. There have been plenty of statistics to back this up. But you and 9 keep trying to put words in peoples mouths. The threads title is Jr is the "mail mans kid". Thats is as the moderator said in her post "bashing". Your going to get some attention with a post like that. I like your NFL example though.
Did the team with the best record win the Super Bowl?
Is a 5-0 team an also ran or sub-par
How many teams play the game at once 43?
Is Dan Marino a great Quarterback-No ring?
You yourself said that Jrs a decent driver, thats all any of us said.

It's not terribly important but it's "Marino."

Do you read before you post??? Or do you just find it necessary to jump at any opportunity to defend Jr? My statement was based on how his popularity with sponsors & media, is above other drivers out there who are much better than he is. So try as you might, just as your opinion wont change, my opinion will not change about him. Once he has proven to be a "champion" or a better contender than others on the field, then I'll say he's pretty good after all.
Now for your questions:
Did the team with the best record win the Super Bowl?Did the best driver win a championship?
How many teams play the game at once 43? Doesn't matter. If he's good, he would beat all 43. Regardless the driver.
Is Dan Moreno a great Quarterback-No ring? Never liked Marino. So no, he wasn't all that great.
You yourself said that Jrs a decent driver, that's all any of us said. Sure, I did. And I give credit when credit is do. Unlike the media, that gives him credit for darn near nothing. He could finish in 30th and he still gets an interview. Why??
Take a look at 'dega. Why were his fans throwing beer cans at Jeff Gordon?? They can't give credit when credit is due? Jeff won because he was better. And when Jr finally wins a championship after 7-8 years or more (or when he wins a race after 67 races without a win) then yes. I will give him credit. His fans can cheer him on all they want. That's why they are fans, and that's what makes the sport fun. But no Jr. fan can change my opinion. Jr. will have to do that on his own.

And I am not putting words in peoples mouths. I am stating my opinion. ITS AN OPINION!! not a "bashing". I never said he was the mail mans kid. Again, my post was based on his popularity being based on pedigree more over performance. Nothing more.

It's not because of his performance as a driver, because he is no better than any other driver on the field. Its because he carries a marquee name (Earnhardt). His daddy was a champion and a great racecar driver. He hasn't won a race in 67 races and doesn't have a championship under his belt...yet....until then, the media and the sponsors have no reason to raise him up on a pedastol above other drivers that are just as good if not better. Defend him all you want, he is a GOOD racecar driver, But he's not a GREAT nascar driver. Don't get me wrong, I have respect for all the drivers that get behind the wheel and risk thier lives for our entertainment every week. I just respect some more than others. I'm not a Gordon fan, but I give the guy credit, he is a darn good driver. Same with JJ, Smoke, Jeff Burton, the Busch brother, even Ken Schrader (guy races darn near anything with wheels), and many others. Oh And we can't forget Matt Kenseth. Moved up to the Cup series the same time as JR, and has 16 career wins and a Championship.
I agree that his popularity spiraled out of control due to his name but he didnt beg SR. to adopt him when he came into racing. He didnt ask to be the son of a legend, and unless I am mistaken NO ONE has won a Sprint cup championship with DEI. so to hold that solely on JR. is unfair. I could see maybe if Treux came in to sprint cup and started racking up wins and got a championship while Jr. struggled, but that was not the case, DEI. as a whole will not be a contender for the championship (in my opinion) anytime soon. We will see where Jr. is at the end of the year with Hendrick. And his Dad did not win a championship in a DEI. car. As you can tell I never was a fan of the junk Theresa let out on the track after Sr. died, it just isnt right.

Jr on the pole, no need for media coverage?

Hey held off in posting a while, sort of let Jr prove some of our points. I agree that he gets a lot of press, but so does Brittany Spears and Paris Hilton. I dont really understand why. But complaining about someones popularity just makes that person all the more popular. So just stopped in to say since I posted Junior had a strong showing at Martinsville, led the most laps and had a good finish. On the pole now for this weeks race. I guess we need not care about these facts? I feel that somehow its going to be a long year for people that dont want to hear about Jr. I was wondering why Kerry Earnhardt doesnt get all the press that Jr gets? I mean he looks just like Sr. and sounds like him. There must be something, maybe something to do with driving huh. But hey thats just my Opinion.

Ok, ok. Sorry about the way I phrased things when I started this post. I was upset about biased coverage that got in the way of me keeping tabs on other drivers during the race.

I began feeling remorse after watching some post race interviews. After watching the race (it was the race where everybody was complaining about tires) I realized that, besides generating money, Dales popularity is helping the sport. When they were making all the fuss, I realized that whether Dale is winning races or not, his opinion on things gets heard.

I do like him because he has a respectful and forgiving personality, I just getting tired of hearing about him all the time and it kind of makes me mad when other skillful drivers suffer because of the fans allegiance to him.

Case and point, after the Darlington race Jr made a statement that passing was the worst he has ever seen it. I was watching my drivers during the race, (Stewart, Busch and Hamlin) Tony and especially Kyle had no problem passing other drivers!?! This is an example of why I ended up with the opinion that Dale isn't as good as everyone makes him out to be.

That being said, .....let this thread die. ...and I will try to place more focus on the good things that Jr brings to the sport.

Hmmm since the last post was over a month ago I would say that until you
just posted in it, it was dead

Let me gat this staight, the guy who is 3rd in the points standings in the most competive racing series in the world, and is easily outperforming his teammates who have multiple championships between them sucks? How in the hell do you get that? You don't have to like Dale Jr. You don't have to root for him, but to say that he sucks is just blind hatred. By the way, Dale Jr. has never done anything to deserve hatred from nascar fans. he is one the most respectful drivers in the field. Just ask the drivers who compete against him. It's just like people hating on Earnhardt Sr. except Jr. has never done anthing to deserve it. If Dale Jr. won five straight championships, u people would say it's just the car, he sucks. U know it's true! Haters!
