Well I better start saving - I don't think I will be able to afford too many off these

Let's not forget that the city that hosts the race, jacks up their hotel prices for Nascar weekend! Inside the track, if you want a beer, it will cost you $7.00 If you want food, be prepared to pay Disneyland prices. If you tailgate, you have to buy all your supplies for that. A weekend at the races in Las Vegas usually costs us about $3000.00 when all is said and done. It is ridiculous!!!

I was going through some older threads and thought that this one might get another go-around. What did you spend for tickets at your last race?

I don't know what my son spent on the package but I do know it cost $161.00 to go into the pits to watch qualfing on Friday at Atlanta. We spent one hour, unbeliveable rain and I didn't even get to see a crew cheif. Never been so wet in my life. You would think they would at lease let you go back in on Sat. when everything is rained out.

Our tickets at Texas were about $130.00 per person. And that is only for the nextel race. busch race tickets cost us $50.00 per person. But were at the start/finish line up high enough to see entire track and not the typical bench seats but actual theatre type seats with drink holders and arm rests. Our tickets at Talladega was $75.00 per person for the saturday and sunday race. But we have had these particular seats for years. And also they are on the backside of the track as well.

Wow WV, that is a lot of money to get nothing! So I take it there are no provisions made for rain when it comes to pit passes. Thanks WV, that is some useful information for me since I am considering going to the spring race there and the race it's self was rained out last year.

I had some friends who bought pitt passes and they told me it was a huge waste of money. Said you thought you might actually get to see some drivers and the crew and that never happens. And that you really did not get close enough to see much of anything they found to be interesting. And these are some die hard fans.

When we go to dega we always get to see most of the drivers leaving in their cars or such like that. while they do not stop we do get to take some up close pics and wave to them.

I know that what little I had read about the Atlanta track, the pit passes really do have some restrictions on them. No one allowed under 16 and the dress code is no shorts and closed toe shoes. Well if I take my men with me to the Atlanta race, my grandson, who is 12 could not go into the pits. Which means that my son or I will have to remain with him, so I was kinda-sorta thinking of buying one pass and then my son and I could take turns. I have talked to some of the people at the Ryan Newman board at Nascar.com who go to the races and they have a good time in the pits with the #12 team and take some awesome pics! I am not so sure I would want to do that either....leave my guys to go wonder down pit road alone. Then again my son lives in shorts all year round, (you can do that in Florida )so he might not want to even bother with the pits. Hmmmm....guess this is one of the things that will best be decided closer to race time. ~LOL~

Thanks for the post dega!

Does anyone else know anything about pit passes? Have you done it? Would you do it again?

The tickets at the TMS for your average bench style seats ran me $125 each in the higher levels which I think start at row 30-35. Next year when I go in April, I plan to sit in the lower level seating which will run me $85-$115 or something like that. I've never sat down there before but I figure there's no harm in trying it out. You can't see around the entire track down in the first rows from what I remember, but if I don't like those seats, I'll just buy the upper level seats for November. Plus, Texas has those huge screens showing the race so if you can't see the backstretch, you can at least see what happened on the screens.

Most of you probably know this already, but if possible, do NOT buy your tickets from Ticketmaster. Here, TMS has half of the tickets and ticketmaster has the other half. Ticketmaster always charges an unnecessarily high service fee for their tickets. The service fee at TMS was $2 per ticket, while it was around $10 or so at Ticketmaster.

I don't know anything about pit passes mrsmopar, sorry. I'd like to see the response though so I know whether or not to buy them.

Thanks Love, again some valuable information because I didn't know about theTicketmasters service charge. That is handy to know. Heck the extra money you save doing this can mean you can spend more at the souvenir trailers!
