Anybody got any idea for RCR's choice of 33 Chevy General Mills?? I'm thinking an old timer...maybe someone as a past champion...ken schrader(not a champ I know), bill elliot, or maybe even Terry Labonte...I mean he's driven for Childress before... How would that work out for a story...Terry takes over sponsership from his brother..rofl... and on a side note-who sponsers the 43??
I,m not concerned about a driver right now, I,m starting to wonder if there will be a Fourth RCR team. With downfall in the economy ALOT of sponsorship dollars are drying up, some sponsors have even questioned the feasability of Buying Out their current contracts!!! Its very possible we may see General Mills as a split sponsor on one of the current RCR teams cars similar to Tony Stewarts deal with OldSpice/Office Depot.

True...riggs is a nice choice...I thought about him not being able to get the 33 up and running...I don't think it would be a partial sponsership because they were a main sponser to labonte...I don't think they would back off on sponser...but even if they do I say they would co-sponser Bowyer's car
UPDATE: with Truex now re-signed with DEI to stay there for another year, it looks like Casey Mears is the front runner to be RCR's 4th driver BUT am hearing that Mears could end up in the #07 Jack Daniel's's Chevy with Clint Bowyer moving over to the 4th team, sponsored by General Mills/Cheerios, supposedly using the #33. The teams could switch owners points so Bowyer is not out of the top-35 in owners points and Mears would have to qualify the #07 for the first five races of 2009.(8-9-2008)

Franchitti hopes to talk to RCR about 4th ride: Dario Franchitti has been talking to teams and manufacturers about driving next season – in all sorts of series. “I haven’t talked to anybody in the IndyCar Series yet,” Franchitti said. “I’ve talked to a lot of other places, though.” Franchitti said he will talk to other teams in NASCAR, though he said he hasn’t spoken to Tony Stewart about the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing ride. Richard Childress Racing’s fourth car is a possibility, he said. “I speak to Richard all the time,” Franchitti said. “We haven’t spoken specifically about the fourth car yet, but that’s a subject I’m definitely going to talk to him about, for sure.”(SceneDaily)(8-9-2008)

First, I doubt that they will move bowyer to a diff number...that would just create headaches for marketing...plus he's had success with jack daniel's and the 07...and as for franchitti...he ain't gonna go to RCR due to the fact that he isn't the type of racer that would fit in with the current roster of RCR
I saw Mears because one Franchetti can't qualify on time for a cup race if his life depended on it ... let us all ignore the walkins glen nationwide race while i saw that and really I would take Mears over Riggs anyday though I like them both as drivers
