UPDATE: with Truex now re-signed with DEI to stay there for another year, it looks like Casey Mears is the front runner to be RCR's 4th driver BUT am hearing that Mears could end up in the #07 Jack Daniel's's Chevy with Clint Bowyer moving over to the 4th team, sponsored by General Mills/Cheerios, supposedly using the #33. The teams could switch owners points so Bowyer is not out of the top-35 in owners points and Mears would have to qualify the #07 for the first five races of 2009.(8-9-2008)ESPN

I just could never see Mears in RCR nor Franchitti.

Truex would of been the right image for an RCR driver but he has signed with DEI once more.

Mears I would put Mears in the #12 Penske dodge. Why? hmmm maybe its becuase he's a Mears! If not Mears for the #12 then Franchitti or Stremme?

Stremme David could fit into RCR but I don't think he's at the level they need. His future for me is undecided.I wouldn't be surprised if he did end up in the #12.

Newman #4 Stewart/Hass for sure. I know nothings finale yet but I am just going to say I feel its a done deal.

McMurray Would be a great addition to any team. However, he screams RCR when you look at his driving and apperance.

Lagono *I dislike him but this isn't about who i like or dislike* Joey will take the #20 for Gibbs for sure but I dont think he will run a full cup schedule. He will have tracks he just can't do and thus someone will be needed to step in and fill in from time to time. Tracks like Daytona, Taladega, Waltkins Glen & Sonoma.

Kyle Petty #45 I think Kyle will still run the 45 but not full time. I also suspect a third car will happen in the near future.

Mears to the 07, Bowyer to the 33. General Mills doesn't want Mears in their car and it's their sponsorship money. I'm sure their voice is loud enough to convince Childress to move Mears to the 07. I do wonder what the Jack Daniels people think of losing Bowyer if this happens. I wouldn't be too pleased, if I were them, unless they think Mears has been in garbage equipment from Hendrick.

Bowyer is not gonna move...he's had success in the 07...riggs is a better canidate than mears...I say look for mears to go to penske

How would him switching to the 33 change anything? You would imagine, he would keep the same team, crew and the like. Just the number would change and the 07 would essentially be the new team. If that is what your sponsor wants and Jack Daniels doesn't care, why wouldn't you do that?

by doing so the new team is more guaranteed a starting spot... got to play it safe... karma is right... besides they still are not saying if they have driver...if no driver there is no team anyhow, maybe even a driver by committee? whimmer, shrader and who ever else they may have in their development program..
