Sadler to the #19 at MIS OFFICIAL: Elliott Sadler will take over the #19 Dodge at Evernham Motorsports beginning with this weekend's race at Michigan International Speedway, a team official confirmed to The Associated Press. Sadler secured an early release from Robert Yates Racing late Tuesday evening, clearing the way for him to replace Jeremy Mayfield beginning Sunday, according an Evernham official who spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not yet been made.(Associated Press), plus there is a scheduled announcement by Evernham Motorsports for a brief update from Ray Evernham and the new driver of the #19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger today at 11:30am/et. OFFICIAL: Evernham Motorsports announced today that it has named Elliott Sadler to drive the #19 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger beginning this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Sadler, who had his first win at Bristol in 2001, has three career wins, seven poles and 16 top fives in 271 starts, brings his hard-charging driving style, fun-loving personality and broad fan appeal to Evernham’s three-car NASCAR Nextel Cup program. He joins Kasey Kahne, driver of the #9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Charger and Scott Riggs, driver of the #10 Valvoline/Stanley Tools Dodge Charger. The 31-year-old native of Emporia, VA, will start his career at Evernham Motorsports this weekend in the backyard of his new primary sponsors – Dodge and the Dodge Dealers. While the terms of his relationship with Evernham Motorsports were not announced, he does have a long term commitment to the program.
“It’s truly an honor to drive for Dodge and Ray Evernham and to be a part of this team,” said Sadler. “I admired Ray as a crew chief and now as a team owner and business leader. His operation is impressive. When you look at the engineering resources, the talented guys on the team, the marketing programs, the facilities and the way he and his directors run things, you can tell that this is a powerhouse organization that is focused on winning races and championships. I look forward to providing some of those wins and hopefully competing with Kasey and Scott for the championship next year.”
Sadler is also excited about his new relationship with Dodge. “My family’s business has a Dodge dealership in Franklin, VA, so it will great to represent Dodge and all the dealers across the country,” he added. “They have some amazing cars and trucks, and I’ll be trading in my current truck for a Ram SRT-10 right away.” Ray Evernham, president and CEO of Evernham Motorsports, said Sadler brings the right chemistry, personality and driving skills to round out his stable of NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers. “So much of the success of a team depends on having the right blend of chemistry and communications,” said Evernham. “Elliott will be a great fit with our team right away and will bring the competitive drive and the ability to communicate with the team what the Dodge Charger needs to perform at its best. I think he’s the key that will place this team firmly on the path to success.” Sadler will get his first experience in a Dodge Charger on Wednesday when his team goes to Kentucky Speedway to test. “We’re looking forward to having Elliott join the Dodge family,” said Mike Accavitti, director of Dodge SRT and motorsports product planning and marketing. “He’s got great star power, he’s a talented driver and has excellent potential to be a champion. He’s a perfect fit for the Dodge brand.”(Clear!Blue/Evernham Motorsports PR)(8-16-2006)
Was just a one of my favorite sites, Sadler's and they are in the process of changing it right now, it just might be coming off my favorites list. My heart is still sick, even though he has had me totalled p.o.ed over this whole situation. I'm done for now!!!!!
TeamYates, I can't wait to see what Mayfield and Sadler do in their new rides!
Well we will see what Sadler does this week Mayfield we'll have to wait until next year. I think Sadler will do much better then Mayfield ever did or will. I really can't wait to see what our new candyman Gilliland will do, I bet he does better than Sadler.

Hello Team Yates!
I am sorry that you do not like the change, changes can be hard on us sometimes. But I must tell you that I am thrilled to see my very favorite Candyman in a Dodge!!! Esad makes MrsMopar's heart race!!! Oh my yes!
Different strokes for different folks, huh? I am sure that Gilliland will do fine for Yates and for your sake I hope that the change is one that you will like!

I'm happy for you that you like Sadler! I like Sadler also, but I reallyDON'T like the wishy washy way he left Yates. It was a piss poor way to do it, if he did it like D.J. then I wouldn't have a problem. D.J. said "I'm leaving" granted I wasn't thrilled about that but at least he was a man about it. Sadler said, "I'm not going anywhere, I haven't talk to Evernham, I've been wearing this uniform for 4 years, I can see myself wearing it next year." All different conversations, but never the less, it was all bogus and he knew it!!! As far as I'm concerned he led us along and then turned around and blew us off. I will still like Sadler, but it will take a little while for me to get over what he did. I had faith in him, I believed his above listed statements and here they were all a big fat lie. I wish him well, I will still root for him, but I'm still foremost a Yates fan and always will be!! Thanks for letting me go on a rant!!

I think they both will do better. Neither have been very happy this year and I think that hurts preformance. I really like Elloitt, he's also my son's favorite so it should be fun for us to have our favorite's on the same team. I still feel really bad for Team Yates since I know she is a Mr Yates fan more then a driver fan. I hope they get some really good and happy driver's and kick some butt next year.

Hey WV-K, that is totally cool that you and your son's favorite drivers will be on the same team. I like Sadler too, but he really bent me out of shape being wishy washy. I think that Sadler will do better than Mayfield, just because I think that Mayfield is a prima donna!! He wants to be the "top driver" in the organization, well then do it, it doesn't just get handed to you!!!! Mayfield has been in top teams before and he didn't do anything then except cry just like he is doing now. I think he will be lucky to be a part of whatever team gives him his next chance, because everybody knows how he gets. I should have put him on the biggest whiner list, but Gordo still beats him there, so I'm sure he would cry because he wasn't the top pick. Sadler is still just a good ole southern boy, I just hope he doesn't follow Mayfields lead and become too big for his britches!!!! Yes, I'm a Yates fan more than a driver fan, I know that is pretty much unheard on in racing, but my driver, Davey, is no longer with us, I find it hard to pick another driver, so I just stick with the guy who gave Davey his break. Not to worry, it will all wash out in the end!!!
Hey, remember a few yrs ago, Childress was doing terrible. Now look at his teams! Yates'll rebound and be fine, they're just in that down cycle, I think!
I am glad that you will still like Sadler and I totally understand how you feel. I did not know that all of that went on, and I must say that I would feel the same! You just need a little time and I am sure that you will be rooting for Esad again! But I am seeing that you are a Team Girl, Yates Team, that is!!
I am glad for you too WV-K that your family and team will all be united!! That is cool!
Smoke is right with what she said about RCR also. Yates has always been a strong team and they will rebound in no time. As the old saying goes you can't keep a good man[TEAM] down!!!
