Question cup vs. busch points

hi, my name is justin and i'm basically wondering if cup drivers should be eligable for busch driver points or not? i personally don't think they should unless they are running a full season. yes they should get car and owner points ,but should they get driver points. i feel it cuts the newer drivers and teams chances of establishing themselves as competitors. i love racing and grew up watching nascar. my step-dads uncle used to race ahra/nhra as "billy the kid" bill steppe. we used to go watch him race at kilcare raceway in xenia, ohio. i guess i have alot of gasoline in my veins. i would like to know what people think?

Hi Justin. Man, that is a tough one. The Buschwacker debate. I am not sure where I stand on the whole thing. You make a good point though. I agree that if a cup driver is racing a full season, then of course they should get points for it. It would be interesting to see the difference in standings if Nascar did as you suggest. I guess that's one I have to think on some more. Great question though!

I think the driver points should be awarded to full season Bush drivers only. The majority of the Nextel drivers that run those races are there for the track time and the extra cash anyway. I think it was crap that the first handful of Bush races this year were all won by full schedule Nextel drivers. So take it as you will but I think Nascar will take a hard look at it before the beginning of next season if they are not already. I know there are tons of other fans like you and I that think there is a issue here.

I totally agree with you. The Cup drivers should not get points in the Busch Series, they are Cup drivers, not Busch drivers. I think NASCAR should ban Cup drivers from running full seasons in the Busch Series because they are Cup drivers, not Busch drivers. Now yes, Cup drivers should be allowed to race in the Busch Series, but they shouldn't be allowed to race a full season in the Busch Series, and the Cup drivers shouldn't get points for that race.

To a degree I disagree. Can Barry Bonds go to the minors just because he wants to ? NO !!! I feel that the cup teams, for the most part, run in the busch series to get in a free practice. On the other hand Harvick has run all the races and will no doubt be the champion. Does he not desreve the title ? I guess he does because he made a commitment to the series but everytime he or any other cup driver run in the series they prevent a busch series regular from running in the series. Where do these guys get experience if the cup guys keep taking up the slots ?? Then you have the "Veteran" cup drivers complaining when a busch series driver comes to the cup series and doesn't respect or have the knowledge to race in the cup series. My feeling is stay in your chosen series. PERIOD.
