Exclamation Qualifying Cars/raceday Cars?

I have a friend of mine that claims know for certain that the drivers race 2, two different cars... one for qualifying and a different one on race day. His email address iS, WELL i VBETTER NOT HANDLE IT THAT WAY!!!
Post the rule and the rule # if anyone knows it. I will email him your post through copy/paste.
I have told him THEY MUST RACE THE CAR THEY QUUALIFY WITH!!! I understand they can wreck on qualifying day and start at the back of the pack with a different car, but he refuses to believe me.

Nope. Gotta run the car your qualified or you're sent to the back of the pack. You can't even change the motor without invoking the same penalty.

just laugh it off and tell your friend hes an idiot. why would the cars go to the back if they change an engine. they used to be able to use a qualifying engine and a race engine but that rule was changed. there was actually a time (long time ago) that the teams could swap engines during the race!

Fan26 NASCAR instituted a one engine for race and qualifying rule 3 or 4 years ago to help save teams money ( LOL ) Now you must race the engine you qualify unless at NASCARs discretion its damaged beyond repair. The teams are then allowed to swap engines and are penalized by having to start at the rear of the feild.
In the mid 80s NASCAR disallowed changing engines during a race. Dont remember the race but I do remember the Junior Johnson team swapping an engine in Darrel Waltrips car during a race in 15 MINUTES.
A real in your hand NASCAR rule book only is a FANTASY only NASCAR can tell you the rules and what they want them to be that day.
