No smoking at Bristol grandstands/suites: In accordance with a new Tennessee state law, all grandstand, terrace, suite, and restroom areas at Bristol Motor Speedway and Dragway now are non-smoking. This became effective October 1, 2007. The General Assembly of the State of Tennessee passed the "Non-Smoker Protection Act" in May and Governor Phil Bredesen signed it into law in June 2007. The Act prohibits smoking in most public facilities, including "sports arenas." Guests may still smoke in our concourse area, but grandstand, terrace and suite seating areas will be non-smoking.(BMS Site), this would also be the case for the Nationwide and Truck races at Nashville Superspeedway, located in Tennessee.(1-27-2008)

That is great news! I wish all tracks were smoke free. I hate that some people think it is their right to smoke and make everyone around them smoke 2nd hand as well. I don't really care if people smoke, it is their right, but please, do not smoke around me, or my children. I don't think anyone should be aloud to smoke in public. 85% of people do not smoke, and don't want to be around smoke.

Here in the UK we have had a smoking ban for around a year now. This prevents you from smoking in any public place including bus shelters, officies, sports arenas etc. Personally not being a smoker I think it's a good decision.
Great Idea!!!!! I'm still mad about this guy who sat in front of me 3 straight years at Dover and blew smoke in my face all race I don't mind it if it comes from the track but not the row in front of me I personally hate smoke and wish it were banned in this country but if you got to do it don't do it near me

first let me say I have never smoked...if I am smoking get a bucket a water and throw it on me cause I am on fire! I am somewhat suprised that we are allowing government in our business like this. go live in Iraq? really? we will be the next Iraq if we keep going like this... personal liberties are what our country was founded on.. freedoms... now we have lots of dumb@$$ out there who violate the rights of others..for years smokers violated the non smokers... and now it is swinging the other way.. no alcohol reck? I am shocked...what would junior johnson say? Nascar origins are from the whiskey runners... and then the winston cup? cigarettes sponsored nascar when nobody else would.. you know they are after fatty fast foods next... no more Mcd's ? then what? we have a smoking ban here as well, but it is getting out of hand... we keep taking freedoms from ourselves...not what our country was founded on..not what are sport was founded on.. next nascar will be shut down for noise pollution? is that the America you really want? yes it is easy to support these restrictions when then favor our opinion, but it is still wrong... you do know they are selling medical marijuana in vending machines in california? tell me what is wrong with that picture? cannot smoke legal cigarettes in public, but you can smoke dope? legalization only for taxation... bet on it... when you go to a bar you should expect smoke... that is just the way life is... question everything... and give back nothing...especially your rights. political correctness and too much government in our lives is not a good thing... use your heads people! oh well the screwed up bristol anyhow.. no desire to go there anymore. ugh... I do favor the move by tracks to promote family seating and campgrounds. again I am not a smoker and not a huge drinker either.. but that is by my choice..... not some bureaucrats!

Well put!
Anytime anyone's personal freedoms are compromised, you can only look for more of the same to happen. I am sure that that's NOT what the founding fathers of this country had in mind!
