So have you signed up for this WV? I heard there was still a lot of confusion and that they can not gaurentee which cars will be featured. So if you are a die hard fan of let's say Jr, there is no gaurentee that he will even have the camera's in his car at all. Don't mean to burst your bubble there WV, but I am sceptical of this. To me it will not be as good as Trackpass from Nascar.com and probably will be a lot more expensive! With Trackpass I know that each race I will get to focus on the incar audio from my driver and their real time stats are awesome! You have the options of setting it up to see it the way you want to. Plus the Trackpass is affordable for just about everyone. In fact it is free with most high speed cable companies.

They will select 5 drivers every race, It may not be always your favorite. But there will be an interactive screen. I will enjoy watching other driver as well as my favorite, and I think you can be sure that at lease one favorite driver or more will be featured at each race. If it don't keep the fans happy they won't buy it. For some of us we can't stream off the computer so this is the best alternative and we will see what happens. If this programing is successful you can bet the 2008 will find an expansion of channels available. Don't forget the free preview at Daytona.

Hey WV, I wish you all the joy in the world as you enjoy your "new toy". I totally understand your decision now, about not being able to get all the info streamed into your computer that it would take to get the Trackpass to work, what with the real time telemetry and all. So I guess that it is a good alternative, that does have a market. I am so happy with the Trackpass, for the most part, that I would not settle for anything less! Hmm...yes, I do spoil me like that! ~LOL~ I do truly hope that you do enjoy it and that Kasey Kahne will be featured for you at least a few times!
P.S. So you would have to be a direct tv customer to get the free Daytona preview?

Sponsors may buy Hotpass services
SCENEDAILY - 1:53PM ET WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 20, 2006 -
Team sponsors will have advertising opportunities on DirecTV's Hotpass service offering exclusive coverage of each of five drivers during each 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup race, Advertising Age reports.
Each driver's team sponsor will have exclusive logo space throughout the race and can have even more airtime during commercials, the magazine reports. During every local break, the story says, the corresponding channel's team will have one minute to devote to advertising of its choice.
"Some teams may choose to talk about merchandise, some may choose to talk about their driver's winery," Eric Shanks, executive vice president of DirecTV Entertainment, told the publication.
The story says the Hotpass feature is in high demand. "We're getting a ton of e-mails and calls saying five channels is not enough and we haven't even started yet," Shanks said.
Financial terms were not disclosed.

DirecTV Group Inc. has named the five NASCAR drivers that will be featured on DirecTV's new NASCAR HOTPASS service.
Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart and Michael Waltrip will each have an exclusive channel through the HOTPASS which will concentrate on them throughout the entire race.
Each driver channel will also feature multiple screens that include the live national broadcast of the race; a driver's point-of-view camera looking out the front windshield with select telemetry readings; additional camera angles inlcuding overhead, pit box and corners; live audio of the communications between the driver, crew chief and spotter; and dedicated announcers for each channel.
DirecTV has also completed its first national ad campaign for the service, which will debut just before the Daytona 500 with a spot featuring Earnhardt Jr.(LA Business)

ARGH I want it! We have Dish Network though, and I'm not sure if they want to switch. I knew I should've switched to DirectTV back when DISH took away one of those Lifetime channels!!!! Not that I actually watch those or anything.
You'll have to keep us updated on it Gma! I'd love to know if you like it or not, and what the pros and cons may be. They need to get rid of the commercials for the channels altogether. If they ever do that, I'm definitely switching!

I would LOVE this! This is something that will bring NASCAR up close. No other sport has this type of thing if I'm correct. This will definately bring more exposure and more viewers to NASCAR.
I caught a preview via satellite once and it was pretty cool..having been to a few races with the trackscan there are cool things around hearing the communications but to be honest when i'm not able to go to teh race, I prefer having the commentary, highlights and overall camera stuff than driver specific. That's just me though
If you can't steam on your computer, hotpass is great. You get to see a lot more racing. The picture is very small when the commerical is on, but i only have 29" screen. I was disapointed that Kasey wasn't one of the featured Drivers this week, but I could follow him by following the driver he was closest too. I did think it was worth while and today they showed half hour segments of each Driver.
