I really have never understood why they pick New York city to give out the awards. Not that I have anything against NY, I don't, but it is not what most people would consider the heart to Nascar country!! I guess it is all about the glitz and glamor of the Big Apple. It is just that it is always such a fan-unfriendly affair. I know a lot of die hard Nascar fans who watch the awards show each year out of a sense of obligation.
Some of us watched the show while we chatted on the Shoutbox, and we all felt that the drivers looked uncomfortable and tense. It must be hard to be on display like that and have to say the right things. I think the wives and girlfriends enjoy it way more than the drivers do!
Who ever that woman is who was doing the announcing, please get rid of her!! That was awful! It would have been much better to have had some of the drivers fans do the announcing than her! That fake voice and false drama was bad!
Poor Kyle, you know he spent the night on the couch! ~LOL~ I really must say that I thought the best speech of the evening was given by Jeff Gordon. And who impressed me the most was Denny Hamlin. He did well at the awards banquet and during his speech for Rookie of the Year. His words were well thought out and he didn't look or sound too nervous.
Here is a link that is fun, seeing everyone all dressed up! Oh, and Erin Crocker looks pretty out of that firesuit and in the strapless gown!

P.S. you can really speed up that slide show so it isn't so boring!
