anybody a wiz on the race scanners.

I purchased a scanner, then a pair of headsets with the mic. The scanner works with the headset, but the push to talk option dosen't work between the two headsets.

To add a note, these are Nextel headsets that also hook to your nextel phone and you can talk on the cell phone thru the headset. That option works, you just can't talk when the phone is off???

I know this is my first post, but I am trying to get ready for Dega this weekend and I am new to Nascar.

I have a scanner but it doesn't have the mic but I think your best bet would be the Nextel or Racing Electronics scanner trailer that will be at the track.They should be able to fix you up.Good Luck and hope you have fun.

That is what I figured I would do. Just trying to get a jump on it.

The headsets have a 9volt battery inside the ear piece that powers the PTT function. Try replacing it. It should be inside the one that has the PTT button on it. Be careful though because it's a pain to get to, lots of little short wires.
