Toyota NASCAR motor

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the Toyota NASCAR motor or know the specs? Toyota, as far as I know, has no production pushrod motors, so what does their motor look like?

Thanks

RK

Here is a link to a picture.

The engine has nothing in common with any Toyota production engine. It is very similar to the other Manufactures NASCAR engines which are far from production engines also. Toyota had access to the other 3 manufactures engines during the design phase. I have heard from very reliable sources that the Toyota has plenty of power, the problems are with the cars and teams.

Toyota Nascar Motor

Thanks for the picture. It may be an optical illusion, but what I see off the bat is a short block and a tall head. I wonder how high the cam is in the block? It would seem that the shorter the pushrods the better.

You are very observant. The heads end up tall because the modern near vertical valve angles require much higher and straighter intake ports with longer valves.

Was glad to see your question and the answer. I worked as a technician for Toyota and Lexus for 32 yrs. The biggest question I had was what kind of a push rod motor did they make, after all its been late 60's since they had one. Love the Hendrichs team but was very happy to see Joe Gibbs Racing move to Toyota

Both Toyota/TRD and Gibbs Racing who is also now involved in Toyota engine development are very tight lipped about their engines. I can give you a few details though.
358 cubic inch with over square bore/stroke ratio, Engine block has siamesed cylinder bores, integrated crankcase stud girdle and reverse flow cooling.
Cylinder heads use 18 degree valve angles with staggered style layout and individual shaft mounted rocker arms. Cylinder head height is mandated by NASCAR the "tall head" mentioned in a previous post is actually due to a spacer mounted between the cylinder head and valve cover needed for rocker arm/stud girdle clearance.
As with all modern NASCAR Sprint Cup engines a 830 cfm carburator and crank trigger ignition with daul spark boxes supplied by NASCAR are used.

You are correct Toyota has No Production overhead valve pushrod engine.

However if you want to see the Real Basis of the Chevrolet R07 Race Engine just open the hood on any 2000 and up GMC/Chevrolet Yukon,Tahoe,Sierra,Silverado,Denali,Suburban,Savan a van, 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO, Monte Carlo SS and of course Corvette.

Sorry almost forgot, Very Good Rumor has it that the post twin 150 engine dyno test done by NASCAR showed the Toyota restrictor plate engine to have a 15-20 HP advantage over Chevrolets and Dodges engines and over 20 HP on the Ford tested.

It wasnt all driver and chassis setup putting Toyotas out front.
