A midweek look at NASCAR's No. 2 group, the Nationwide Series:

ELEVATOR

UP - JOEY LOGANO: Impressive sixth-place finish in his series debut at Dover, Del.

UP - TOYOTA: Joe Gibbs Racing teams or not, the manufacturer has made this series its own.

UP - DARIO FRANCHITTI: First race back from a broken ankle he finishes 15th at Dover. Not a bad return.

3 TO WATCH

1 - KYLE BUSCH: He's back in Braun Racing's No. 32 Toyota and running three races in three days in three series and three cities. Now, that's a workout.

2 - SCOTT WIMMER: Won the series' first race at Nashville this year in one of only four races so far not won by a Toyota.

3 - JASON LEFFLER: Will attempt to make Sunday's Sprint Cup race for Haas-CNC Racing, leaving his practice duties to Chad Blount at Nashville.

OBSERVATIONS

• Only six Cup drivers are entered in Saturday's race, and six of the next nine series races are stand-alone events - not paired with Cup races. The reduction of Cup entries will likely do two things: increase the chances of a non-Cup driver winning and drop some of Cup drivers not running a full schedule out of the top 10 in points.

• TV ratings for last week's race at Dover were up slightly even though the race faced a three-hour rain delay. The race received a 1.6 rating, up 8 percent from a 1.5 the year before. Considering ESPN2 also had three hours of fill-in programming during the delay, that's a very respectable result for a very long day's work.

In just his second Nationwide Series start, Joey Logano captured the pole for Saturday evening's Federated Auto Parts 300 at the Nashville Superspeedway.

The No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver circled the 1.333-mile oval in 30.003 seconds (159.944 mph).

The pole victory was the first of his Nationwide Series "career."

"I'm glad to get the first pole under my belt," said Logano. "The Game Stop Toyota was a little 'free' in qualifying, but I think it's going to be pretty good in the race."

Starting with Logano on the front row will be another youngster, Brad Keselowski, who posted a time of 30.127 seconds.

Mike Bliss (30.162) and series points leader Clint Bowyer (30.167) will start in row two.

While Denny Hamlin dominated the Nationwide Series race at Dover, and Bowyer finished ninth to keep a 121-point stranglehold on the championship, it was first-time starter Logano that created much of the news from last Saturday's race.

Logano, the much-hyped, 18-year-old got behind the wheel of the No.20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota and proceeded to show that he was everything they said he was.

On a track he had never driven, Logano qualified a solid ninth and then rebounded from a pit-road incident to finish a very good sixth. The only drivers ahead of him were named Hamlin, Carl Edwards, David Stremme, David Reutimann and Greg Biffle - all Sprint Cup veterans.

Chapter Two of the Logano story takes place tonight.

Meanwhile Kyle Busch has his own story to write this weekend. Busch is attempting to run in three different races at three different venues this weekend. He finished second last night in the Craftsman Truck Series race after starting last. Busch will start fifth on the grid.

The race is schedule to drop the green flag at 7:30 p.m. (et).

LEBANON, Tenn. – Last year at Nashville Superspeedway, Brad Keselowski drove for a team so underfunded that it didn’t finish out the season.

What a difference a year makes.

Keselowski, who now drives Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s JR Motorsports No. 88 Chevrolet, won his first Nationwide Series race Saturday night, going to victory lane in the Federated Auto Parts 300.

In 2007, Keselowski drove for Keith Coleman Racing, and last June’s race at Nashville was his last with KCR. The team folded and Keselowski was again looking for a ride.

A month later, Earnhardt Jr. called, and Keselowski had a job with NASCAR’s most popular driver.

Saturday, Keselowski passed Sprint Cup driver Clint Bowyer with six laps to go and held on for the win.

Bowyer’s No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet was shuffled from second to fourth on the last lap, but he kept his Nashville streak intact. In nine races on the 1.33-mile concrete track, Bowyer hasn’t finished lower than fifth.

Stremme (Rusty Wallace Racing) nudged past Bowyer to finish second, with David Reutimann (Michael Waltrip Racing) following him by Bowyer to finish third. Reutimann had been trying to stretch his fuel the final 77 laps, but he was passed by Bowyer for the lead with eight laps remaining.

David Ragan (Roush Fenway Racing) finished fifth. Mike Wallace (Germain Racing) posted his best finish of the season in sixth, with March Nashville winner Scott Wimmer (RCR) seventh, Kelly Bires (JTG Racing) eighth, Landon Cassill (JR Motorsports) ninth and Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway) 10th.

Polesitter Joey Logano led twice for 64 of the first 78 laps but got behind on a pit stop and spun off Turn 4 after contact with Biffle as four cars raced side-by-side. Logano hit the wall and had to make repairs to the front of his No. 20 Toyota. He finished 31st.
