Angry I really don't think there ia a huge need for NASCAR in Meico

During yesterday's race the whole pre-race, as well as every chance the broadcasters had a chance to get in, were praise to Meico and how wonderful it is for NASCAR to be in Mexico. During the race it was stated to Meicans were the missing influence of NASCAR. Whatever! I really don't see a huge amount to gain from going to Meico. Am i missing something? If anybody knows please tell me!

Well NASCAR is very sponsor and media driven. ESPN has a responsibility to promote the sport and yesterday it was in NASCAR's best interest to promote the involvement of the city, country and track/sponsor involement. In that sense it was partly propagandistic to say the least.

That said what's wrong with expanding horizons and attracting new fans to the sport? I for one and thrilled NASCAR is coming to Canada in August. We support the sport in our own way as much as any American... why should we not be thought of?

More races in places such as Montreal and Mexico City mean more popularity for the sport, more young kids wanting to get into racing, more merchandising money generated... it's a win-win.
