Wink Reed Sorenson 3M Performance 400 Race Preview

Chip Ganassi Racing With Felix Sabates, Press Release

Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:

· Mastering Michigan:

Sorenson has just three starts at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in the NEXTEL Cup Series, but his results are rather impressive. He posted a fifth-place finish in last year’s June event and followed that up with an eighth-place effort in August. Handling woes plagued the team in the June event this season, but the crew is determined to return to the ’06 form at the track this weekend.

· Back in Action:

Chassis #206, one of Sorenson’s and the Target team’s favorite cars will be seeing competition for the first time in almost a year this weekend at MIS. The car was the busiest in the team’s fleet in 2006, running a total of seven races (California, Las Vegas, Charlotte 1, Pocono 1, Indy, Dover 2 and Charlotte) with a best finish of 10th coming in the May Charlotte race. The car suffered serious damage in the second Charlotte race last season, but has since been rebuilt. The Target team ran this car a total of 11 races in 2005 with driver Casey Mears. The team recorded six top-10 finishes and two top-five finishes, including a sixth-place effort at Indianapolis and two near victories in the final events of the season at Texas Motor Speedway (fourth) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (fifth).
· Points Update:

The Target team dropped one position to 25th in the overall NEXTEL Cup Series standings after their 28th-place finish in the last event at Watkins Glen. The team is 173 points outside of the top 20 heading into Michigan.

· CGRFS Going Primetime:

ABC’s NASCAR in Primetime: an Inside Look at Life in the Fast Lane, is the first time that NASCAR has given any news organization uncensored access to its inner workings. ABC News spent six months following drivers and teams (including CGRFS), fans and officials, documenting everything that happened on and off the racetrack. The five-week, five-episode series begins airing on August 15 on ABC and continues for five consecutive weeks.

· Be Sure to Tune In:

The 3M Performance at MIS is set to go green at 2 p.m. ET Sunday. The race will air live on ESPN, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio

Smile Reed Sorenson Camping World 300 Preview

Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Press Release

Race: Camping World 300 on Saturday, September 1, 2007

Track: California Speedway (2-mile D-shaped oval)

Location: Fontana, Calif.

Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Memorex Dodge Team Facts:

· Seeing Double? This weekend some fans may think they are seeing double as not one, but two Memorex Dodges will compete in Saturday night’s NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) Camping World 300. Reed Sorenson will make his second appearance in the No. 41 Memorex Dodge while his teammate and Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) development driver Kevin Hamlin climbs back behind the wheel of the No. 42 Dodge which will carry the purple colors of Memorex, too.

In addition to adorning both Busch cars, Memorex will occupy the upper-rear quarter panels of the No. 41 Target Dodge on Sunday, as well, in place of the normal Target Bullseyes. Memorex, the leading brand of optical media at U.S. retail and a portfolio brand of Imation Corp., is headquartered in Cerritos, Calif., not too far from California Speedway.

· Just One More Before the Big Debut: CGRFS development driver Bryan Clauson will make another run in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this Friday, August 31, at Gateway International Raceway before making his NBS debut next Friday, September 7, in the No. 41 Memorex Dodge at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). Clauson has recorded four ARCA starts so far this year, collecting two runner-up finishes, a fifth-place finish and a 14th-place finish in the Memorex Dodge.

His NBS schedule will start at RIR and then he will compete in the remaining six NBS races after Dover. Clauson, who just turned 18 this past June, has been racing since he was five-years old. During his relatively short career to date, Clauson has tallied multiple championships, wins, rookie of the year honors, podium finishes and has been the youngest driver to achieve and receive some of the most prestigious awards in USAC Midget and Sprint Car racing history, including the 2002 HARF First Year Driver Award; 2004 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Wildcard Award; and the 2006 USAC National Midget Rookie of the Year.

Memorex announced in January it had signed an agreement with CGRFS to serve as primary sponsor of the No. 41 Memorex Dodge starting this August. Memorex has been riding as an associate sponsor on the No. 41 Wrigley’s Dodge since February, but took center hood for the first time in NASCAR competition this past Friday night at Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS). Clauson’s ARCA run at Gateway will be broadcast LIVE at 9 p.m. ET Friday on SPEED (TV).

· Sorenson Gets an “A” at Cali: Sorenson gets a 97% when it comes to completing laps in his Busch Series car at California Speedway. Out of 750 laps of Busch Series competition he’s entered, Sorenson has completed all but 24. When it comes to Busch racing, he tallied one top-five, one top-10, three top-15 and four top-20 finishes. Out of five Busch Series starts, two have been inside the top five.

· No Time like the First Time: Sorenson’s first race at California Speedway, in February 2005, resulted in a fourth-place start and fifth-place finish in the Stater Bros. 300. It was Sorenson’s rookie year as a Busch Series driver for CGRFS and to date still the best start and finish the young racer has at the Fontana area track.

· Californians On Board: The No. 41 Memorex Team has not just one, but three racers who hail from the West Coast. Front-tire changer Scott Ward is originally from Clearlake, rear mechanic Steve Dietrich is from Nipomo, and general mechanic Dan Bormann is from Shingle Springs.

· Standings Update: The No. 41 Memorex team now stands 17th in the overall NBS owner ranks. The team is 63 points outside of the top 15 and 200 points out of the top 10.

· Chassis: The No. 41 Busch team is bringing chassis #654 to race in this weekend’s Camping World 300. The same chassis was entered in a total of six NASCAR Busch races in 2006. The most memorable run was at Chicagoland in July when Casey Mears drove the chassis to his first NASCAR victory. Juan Pablo Montoya also raced the same chassis to a 14th-place finish in the last Busch race of the 2006 season at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla.

Altogether, chassis #654 collected one win, three top-five and five top-15 finishes last year. It was most recently entered at Dover International Speedway and Kentucky Speedway this past June. Montoya raced from a 24th-place starting position to a 14th-place finish at Dover in early June and then Kevin Hamlin scored a 21st-place finish (started 29th) at Kentucky in the same car June 16.

· In the World of Open Wheel:In the World of Open Wheel: Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon wrangled away the championship points lead from Dario Franchitti this past weekend at Infineon Raceway, winning Sunday’s Motorola Indy 300 race. The victory at Infineon marked the Target team’s 16th IndyCar series win, Dixon’s 10th IndyCar win, and his fourth of the year which is his career best total in a season to date.

It also completes Dixon’s domination of road courses this season after earlier wins at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio. With just two IndyCar races remaining in the 2007 season, Dixon regained the IndyCar championship lead by four points (560 points) over Franchitti (556 points) who finished third in Sunday’s race. Dixon’s teammate Dan Wheldon finished seventh, and remains fourth in the standings with a total of 414 points.

· When to Watch: The NBS Camping World 300 is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET Saturday, September 1, and will broadcast live on ESPN2, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128. Qualifying for the 150-lap competition is scheduled to start at 8:10 p.m. ET Friday, August 31, and will be tape delayed on SPEED (TV) starting at 11 p.m. ET Friday night.

Cool Reed Sorenson Camping World 300 Preview

I know that I did get that right in the race threads for both this week weeks series:

Camping World 300 - California Speedway (9/01/07)
http://www.nascarspace.com/nascar/showthread.php?t=3426

Dodge Ram Tough 200 - Gateway International Raceway (9/01/07)
Dodge Ram Tough 200 - Gateway International Raceway (9/01/07)

So if you are referring to the previous post, it was sent out as a 'Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Press Release'. So the mistake in the title would be on their part. I merely copy and paste what they send me.
I went ahead and fixed it for your sake Tdog!

Perhaps you should send them a polite email and tell them of their error. It could be a start at getting your foot in the door for the future. Wouldn't that be a DREAM JOB to proof-read/write the press releases for Reed Sorenson?

Reed Sorenson and the No. 41 Target Dodge Team Facts:

· Helping out for Habitat:

· A CoT First:

This weekend’s Talladega race will mark the first restrictor-plate race for NASCAR’s new Car of Tomorrow. Sorenson, along with his CGRFS teammates and most other drivers and teams on the circuit participated in a two-day NASCAR sanctioned test at the track on Sept. 10 & 11.

· Points Update:

· Chassis:

Crew chief Jimmy Elledge has selected chassis #748 for this weekend’s inaugural CoT restrictor-plate race.

· And the Winner is [drum roll, please] … :

CGRFS announced early last week the winner of its inaugural Drive4Design contest. Heath Harmon, of Spokane, Wash., was named the Grand Prize winner of the apparel design competition, which involved two fan favorites and essentials—a t-shirt and cap. Earlier this year, CGRFS invited NASCAR fans to turn their ideas into reality with the “Drive4Design Contest,” encouraging motorsports enthusiasts to create their own unique fan gear. The CGRFS drivers took part in the selection process, along with other CGRFS team members. Harmon’s creation will be produced in partnership with Chase Authentics and sold this fall at the CGRFS Concord, N.C., gift shop and at the online gift shop at Chip Ganassi Racing. In addition to watching his t-shirt and hat designs come to life, Harmon will be treated to a complimentary Charlotte race weekend trip for two this October. First prize winners were Ryan Villnow of New Richmond, Wis.; Stephen Whiting of Winter Springs, Fla.; Connie Deighton of Buckeye, Ariz.; and Daniel Barrr of Deep Gap, N.C. They will each receive a signed 1:24 scale diecast from CGRFS.

· Ladies’ Night Returns to CGRFS:

After a successful debut in 2006, Ladies’ Night is returning this October to the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) Concord, N.C., race shop Wednesday, October 10 (6:30 to 8:30 p.m. ET), with more fun festivities. In addition to free admission and a complimentary behind-the-scenes tour of the CGRFS race shop, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be on the house for all attendees. Guests will also be treated to a fall fashion show that will include apparel designed by the CGRFS Drive4Design contest winner Heath Harmon, as well as a sneak peek at the new fall fashions. Special guest speakers will stop by to visit and talk about their racing careers and lives. Raffle prizes will also be given away with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Reservations are required, so don’t delay. Call 1-800-888-6388 to reserve your spot for CGRFS Ladies’ Night 2007 today. To learn more go to Chip Ganassi Racing and click on “Charlotte Race Week 2007.”

· Be Sure to Tune In:

The UAW 500 is set to go green at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday. The race will air live on ABC, MRN radio and Sirius Satellite Radio channel 128.
