Smile Reed Sorenson Food City 500 Bristol NSCS Race Preview

Chip Ganassi Racing With Felix Sabates, Press Release

Reed Sorenson and No. 41 Target Dodge Team (NSCS)

Reed at Bristol:

Sorenson is looking to improve upon his Bristol Motor Speedway stats. His best finish in Cup competition was the last time he raced at the .533-mile track in August 2007 when he scored a 15th-place finish (started 29th). Prior to that, his best effort was a 22nd-place finish in March 2006. His best Nationwide Series finish is an impressive third place, which came in his first start at the track on April 4, 2005. Altogether, he has four starts in NSCS competition with one top-10 start and one top-15 finish. In NNS competition, he has six starts that include an outside pole, three top-10 starts, one top-five finish and two top-15s.

To the Finish:

Sorenson has been there at the finish in every race he has entered this 2008 season in NSCS competition, completing more than 98 percent of laps he has attempted and is averaging a 22nd-place start and finish so far this year.

Did you know?

In 2007, Target’s tradition of giving five percent of its income to charitable organizations translated into more than $3 million dollars in change every week.

Homecoming:

Tony Glover—a Kingsport, Tenn., native—is the team manager at the CGRFS Concord, N.C. race shop. He has been racing for 35 years and throughout his career Glover has built the reputation as one of the top mechanical minds in motorsports. In addition, Glover has a knack for developing drivers and winning big races. Under his guidance, Ernie Irvan, Sterling Marlin and Joe Nemechek captured their first NASCAR Cup wins.

Points Report:

Sorenson and the Target team currently sit 22nd in the overall NSCS driver point standings. The team is only 79 points out of 12th place – the final cutoff position for the Chase – and 274 points out of first place.
