Never heard anything more on that pit road incident with Stremme.
Went to the speedway on Sunday night, bummed about Robby. I was listening to his radio and he heard a loud noise, thought it was the motor. There was no smoke coming out from behind his car, he just said that it was a major vibration. Ended up being his tranny. Let's just say he was not very happy on the radio. Bummer to finish 43rd at his home track. Plus he dropped to spots in the standings. I am still hoping he can crack the top 20. It is going to be tough.

Thanks for the info Desertroots, I didn't know why he finished 43rd, I misssed that on the tv. Or maybe they didn't say.

I am sure they did not say. The old NBC rule of thumb, if you are not in the top ten in the race or in the chase, you get nothing. Not a word mentioned about you. Atleast when you are watching a NFL game near the end of the season and they are at halftime or the end of the game and they show highlights, they show everygame, meaningful or not.

I bet he was not happy at all!!! Poor Robby, he does deserve a better season, like Ryan does. And it had to be double bad on him with it being his home track and all! 43rd is a bad place to be and not where a driver of Robby's talent and abilities should be. That spot is usually reserved for the 'field filler', you know the likes of Derrick Cope or Michael Waltrip as of late. Here's hoping and praying that Robby has a better finish to the season! (Ryan too!!!)
I just added a post about Robby in the Richmond Race Preview thread:

The Return Home Ends With a Disappointing Finish for Robby Gordon
I just found this article desert and thought I'd add it here. I sure will be one happy lady when I post an article here about his win, and keep the faith, it will happen!
Robby Gordon Motorsports, Press Release
FONTANA, CALIF. (Sept. 3, 2006) – From nearby Orange, Calif., Robby Gordon started the NASCAR Nextel Cup Sony HD 500 Sunday afternoon hopeful of a top-five finish in front of a hometown crowd that included family and countless friends.
Hoping to improve on a disappointing 26th-place finish earlier this year at California Speedway, the tempo was set early after a tire failure following contact with the No. 00 of Bill Elliott. Following Gordon’s trip down pit road on lap seven and going a lap down in the process, the stage was set for a long evening.
Running in the 43rd position, the only car one-lap down, Gordon battled to remain in that position until the caution flag finally flew on lap 27. Gordon regained his position on the lead lap and once again began his charge towards the front.
Fighting his way to the top 20 by lap 100, Gordon was now in position to ride until the time came to capture what at least would be his 13th top-20 finish to date this season, already surpassing last year’s mark by eight.
Crossing the line to begin lap 101 and determined to bring home what would be his best finish at the 2-mile D-shaped oval since 2004, Gordon dove to the inside of turn 1 and passed four cars to take his place within the top 15 and continued to maintain that position until the caution came out on lap 109.
Still running in the top 20, Gordon radioed on lap 167 with the thought that the motor was beginning to falter. Heading to pit road on lap 174 for adjustments to make his run at the top-15 cars, Gordon restarted in the 19th position for what would be his last green flag run of the night.
As he passed the start/finish line to complete lap 187, sparks flew from a broken tailpipe underneath the No. 7 Chevy. Bringing the car to pit road to investigate the issue, the crew realized that the severity of the problem could only be corrected back in the garage. As the remainder of the field pitted for fuel for the final dash to the checkered flag, Gordon slowly rolled the No. 7 behind the wall.
As a result of the heat from the broken tailpipe, the transmission failed and the team was relegated to a 43rd-place finish. Gordon and the rest of the No. 7 crew called it a night and got set to make the long journey back to North Carolina.
“It was a long night,” said Gordon. “We had a few problems early, but rebounded from them. We went a lap down early in the race and drove right back into it, that part was fun. The tailpipe broke for some reason and that eventually broke the transmission, ending our night. We really needed a good finish to bring us into the top 20 in points but it just didn’t come together for us tonight.”
While others battle for their place within the Chase, Gordon and the No. 7 Jim Beam Black Chevy will continue their own battle to be within the top 20 by season's end. They will now head to Richmond International Raceway for some Saturday night short-track racing in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400. Catch coverage of the action from the ¾-mile oval on Saturday, September 9th at 7 p.m. EDT on TNT. Radio coverage can be heard on national MRN affiliates beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.

Thanks for that article. He did finish 19th last weekend and stayed in 26th in points. Last time at New Hampshire was when he brake checked M. Waltrip and put him out of the race. We shall see what happens. I will have to record on the DVR because I am going to the Charger game but atleast I get to skip all the commercials.
New Hampshire International Speedway is the site of your first Nextel Cup Series victory, what are your chances of making it the site of your first win as a Cup team owner?
“I’d like to say that our chances are pretty good. We’ve run inside the top 5, 10 and 15 the last few times up here. We might not have the finishes to show for it, but we have been competitive. We show up and are able to compete with the guys like Dale (Earnhardt) Jr. and Tony Stewart who’ve always been at the top in Loudon.
“The car we’re bringing this weekend has definitely been a performer for us. We ran it at to Phoenix, Martinsville and Michigan this year. We should be a contender again this weekend at hopefully finally have a chance get Jim Beam and all our other great sponsors a win.”

No. 110 also was victim to an early-race accident followed by an engine failure which sidelined Gordon for the remainder of the spring Martinsville event. Chassis No. 103 will serve as back up.

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 17, 2006) – Robby Gordon came into New Hampshire International Speedway, the same track where he captured his first victory as NASCAR Nextel Cup driver, with sights set on regaining back his position within the top 25 in points. Falling from 24th to 26th in points over the last few weeks, Gordon was looking to rebound and continue on what was a steady climb towards the top 20.
Starting Sunday’s Sylvania 300 from the 9th position, his best starting position in 13 previous attempts at the 1-mile oval, he was in place to do just that.
Early in the race it looked like unwanted circumstances would not make it easy for Gordon to accomplish his goal. Following the second caution of the day on lap 28, he headed to pit road for routine adjustments to help the No. 7 gain grip in the corners. Upon exiting pit road, his left rear tire came loose, forcing him back down pit road, losing the advantage that a top-10 start gave him. Gordon would restart 37th on a track notoriously difficult to pass on.
In search of his next worthy opponent lap after lap, and with the finesse of a veteran driver, Gordon was 23rd by the time the next caution flag flew on lap 79 and restarting in the 21st position.
Strategy was the name of the game at this point to help gain positions both on pit road and on track. Pitting on lap 98 while most of the leaders stayed out helped Gordon to forgo fuel longer than the others if the field remained at green-flag pace. Although a gamble, it would pay off as the No. 7 Jim Beam Chevy was posted as leader of the 43-car field on lap 175 and gained the coveted five bonus points.
Adjustments by crew chief Greg Erwin coupled with strategy now really started to pay off as Gordon began gaining ground on the cars he was chasing.
“That race car has come alive,” was broadcasted over the radio by Erwin as the No. 7 drove almost effortlessly passed another competitor. Gordon now found himself within the top 20.
Continuing on through cautions and rounds of pit stops to gain a spot inside the top 15 and maintain for the remainder of the race, Gordon brought the No. 7 Jim Beam Chevy home in 15th place.
“This was a points day that we really needed,” said the former New Hampshire winner. “We definitely struggled at times today and I think it’s a testament to how this team has been of late, to be able to come back from something that could’ve ended our day (lost wheel), and get a top-15 finish.
“We were able to gain some ground on the cars in front of us (in points) and with some more hard work, we can continue to improve throughout the rest of the season.”
Gordon and the No. 7 Menards/MAPEI Chevy will now head to the concrete bull ring of Dover International Speedway and attempt to tame the Monster Mile. Catch coverage of the action from the 1-mile oval on Sunday, September 24 at 12:30 p.m. EDT on TNT. Radio coverage can be heard on national MRN affiliates beginning at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

CONCORD, N.C. -- Owner/driver Robby Gordon at Lowe's Motor Speedway Saturday announced his Robby Gordon Motorsports operation would field Ford Fusions in 2007 -- breaking a six-year stretch in Chevrolets but reprising the earliest stages of his career.
In 2000, Gordon's first year as an owner in the Cup Series, he fielded Ford Tauruses for 17 races. Since then, he's raced Chevrolets in 182 events for Richard Childress, Larry McClure and in the last two years for himself.
All three of Gordon's career Cup victories came in Richard Childress Racing Chevrolets, but at the beginning of his career, Gordon was a Ford factory driver in family prepared off-road trucks and sports cars fielded by Roush Racing.
"I had a lot of success with Ford early in my career and I owe a lot to Ford," Gordon said. "I think our Nextel Cup program is at the point now where we're ready to take it to the next level."
Gordon said his team has already begun preparation of Ford racecars and would use powerplants from Roush/Yates Engines next season, but that he would not test any Fords himself until after the 2006 season, when his current relationship with General Motors in NASCAR ends.
Gordon said that he would also continue his Dakar Rally program, which uses the Hummer H3, as well as his Chevrolet off-road Trophy Truck team. The loyalty to multiple manufacturers is much like team owner Roger Penske, who fields Dodges in NASCAR, Honda-powered cars in the Indy Racing League and Porches in the American Le Mans Series.
"Ford has pledged its complete support of helping me realize my dream of winning a NASCAR championship as an owner/driver," Gordon said. "I believe my best days as a Nextel Cup driver are still in front of me and I also believe we have laid the groundwork for the expansion of our program."
Gordon said in a worst-case scenario he wanted his Nextel Cup team to be a two-car operation by 2008, and also said he planned to field Ford Fusions in the Busch Series, though he provided no details

I haven't been around for awhile, but I heard that he was switching to Ford. I am VERY suprised. I read an article from a L.A. newspaper that stated that Robby is much more mature now than he was when he was seen kicking at the Ford emblem on the front of his Indy Car. It is definetly a better way to go. There really are not that many Ford teams, so he will get a lot more support then with Chevy. Change is good sometimes.
