Robby Gordon’s Quotes on MIS

Your intermediate program has been fairly successful this year. Do you feel like you can be a threat to win this weekend?

“We have learned a lot over the last 18 months and it’s starting to pay off with the runs we’ve been having. Our database or information pool gets larger and larger every week and that helps us a lot when it comes to things like our aero package or our setup for tracks like Michigan. We’re bringing the same car that we raced at Chicago and have made a few changes to it. We were pretty happy with the numbers we saw in the wind tunnel and we should have a pretty good run in the No. 7 Menards/Energizer Chevrolet this weekend.”
You’re also going to run the Busch Series race this weekend for Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s team. What can you tell us about that?

“(Dale) Jr. is a good friend of mine and he came to me and asked if I would help them out. They’ve been looking to improve their finishes and overall performance and asked if I would run a couple races in order to give them some feedback. He has a first-class operation over there and he looking to make it even better and I’m flattered that they came to me.”

Menards/Energizer Fast Facts:

· Keeps Going and… – Coming into the 23rd race of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup season, this will mark the fourth time Menards/Energizer will share sponsorship of the No. 7 Chevy. Energizer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ENR), http://www.energizer.com , headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary batteries and flashlights and a global leader in the dynamic business of providing portable power. It offers a full portfolio of products including its premium brand, Energizer® MAX®; its high performance brands, Energizer® e2® Lithium, Energizer® e2® Titanium Technology® and Energizer® Rechargeable; and Specialty batteries. Jim Beam, Harrah’s and CarLoan.com will serve as associates.
· Chassis – Chassis No. 104 will act as the primary this weekend. Chassis No. 104 last saw action in Chicago before heading to the wind tunnel late last month. Chassis No. 106 will serve as back up.

· Points Position – Following his second top-10 finish of the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup season, Gordon and the No. 7 Menards/Energizer Chevy moved up one spot to the 26th position, a mere 5 points out of 25th and 164 points out of 20th, which remains the team’s goal.

· Meet the Driver – Gordon will sign autographs and visit with fans at the Robby Gordon Motorsports merchandise trailer on Sunday, August 20th at 11 a.m.

· All Aboard – Gordon will take the helm of the No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS, owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr., for the NASCAR Busch Series events at Michigan International Speedway and California Speedway. Gordon has one previous Busch Series start at each track and finished 12th in both races.

He is the top owner/driver in the standings. He is beating Hass and MB2 teams. Not that that is a lot but you would think they would have more resources then RGM. He is a pure racer, races until he see's the checker. I could go on, but I will stop sounding like a pycho freak. I am such a huge fan because I have watched him for so long. Especially in the desert, but also in Trans-am/GTO racing for Jack Rousch with Dorsey Schroeder as a teammate, I witnessed his first Indycar victory at Phoenix and of course all his stock car racing. He will win on an oval sometime soon.

Unhappy A Solid Run At Bristol Ends With A Disappointing Finish for Robby Gordon

Robby Gordon Motorsports, Press Release

BRISTOL, TENN. (August 26, 2006) – Saturday night’s Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway is considered one of NASCAR’s most exciting races – 43 drivers vying for the same real estate inside a .533-mile bullring. It can also produce some of the sport’s biggest headaches and heartbreaks. For Robby Gordon, starting in the 42nd position, strategy would have to play a key factor in order to bring home another solid finish and continue his steady climb through the points.

With a circuit of the track taking only 17 seconds, Gordon’s first chance to pit came quickly as the first caution flag of the night was displayed on lap 60. In need of more grip, air-pressure adjustments and four fresh tires were on deck for the No. 7 Jim Beam Chevy. Returning to the track in the 29th position, Gordon and crew chief Greg Erwin started looking for their opportunity gain valuable track position.

That opportunity came on lap 114 after the caution came out once again to slow the field. Taking a chance and not pitting under caution, Gordon restarted in the fifth position.

A flurry of cautions ensued for the next 150 laps, giving Gordon plenty of time to rest and remain in position to cap off the night with a great finish and move closer to the top 20 in points.

Maintaining position inside the top 15 for the majority of the night, bad luck would rear its ugly head on lap 322. Gordon would fall victim to a right-side tire failure, forcing him down pit road, losing two laps in the process. With the caution flag being displayed only two laps later, Gordon got caught at the tail end of the field. Relegated to 32nd place, Gordon and crew scrambled to gain lost ground.

As others ran into their own problems, Gordon gained positions until ultimately bringing it home in the 27th position, completing only 498 laps unable to recover from the tire failure.

“This was another typical Bristol weekend,” Gordon said. “We had the car that was capable of finishing in the top 10 and had at least a top-15 finish going until we had that tire go down. Since we qualified horribly we had to focus our strategy on being in position to stay out under a caution late in the race and move up to the front. We came in a little earlier than we had originally planned, but we had a real good car that could run up front with the leaders.

“I’m looking forward to going back home to California this weekend and hopefully we’ll be able to make up some ground we might have lost.”

Gordon and the No. 7 World Series of Poker Chevy will now tackle the wide-open asphalt of California Speedway in the Sony HD 500. Catch coverage of the action from the 2-mile oval on Sunday, September 3rd at 7 p.m. EDT on NBC. Radio coverage can be heard on national MRN affiliates beginning at 7 p.m. EDT.

Robby has improved so much this year compared to last year. He has been in every race, has a good spot in the owner points standings. Also has had a couple of really good finishes. I think by this time next year he might even be a Chase Contender.

You know, I was wondering what happened. Good old NBC, never mentioned a word, A WORD. For someone was running in the top 15 and then all of a sudden 32nd, what is up with that? If it was Jr., Stewart, Martin, etc., they would have said something. I am really pissed off.
Did you see at the very end of the broadcast when they showed one of R. Gordon's crew members get hit by Stremme? Again, nothing mentioned. I am going to write to NBC. I think NBC is getting out of Nascar coverage next year, thank god! They suck. I will get better info being there this weekend than watching it on t.v.

Hey desert!

Yeah I know what you mean about the poor coverage by NBC! Nascar should be real upset at NBC and FOX, they both have the worse coverage I have ever seen this year! Unless the driver you are following is in the top 10, forget it, because the TV isn't going to cover them!

My favorite way to watch the race this year is to mute the TV and listen to MRN on the radio while using my Trackpass. At least MRN has good race coverage. And they tell you what is going on all through the field, not just the front runners.

I didn't know about Robby's guy being hit until I watched Inside Nextel Cup on SPEED. It would seem that Stremme hit that poor guy intentionally because he didn't move fast enough!

I have never been a big Robby Gordon fan, but I do really like to see him doing well this year!

I think NBC sucks too, they are disgustingly horrible. They don't cover anything that happens at the end of the races. I can't wait till they are done! What I hate is their crash coverage. They never show what happened or if they do it's so far away. "Look in the top right of your screen". Well, zoom in you idiots.

I love Robby, I wish he'd get a win. That would be a dream!

I didn't even know anything about Stremme hitting anyone, what happened?

I didn't see this during the race either, just goes to show you what good coverage NBC has! The video I saw on Inside Nextel Cup was from David Stremme's in-car camera. At the end of Stemme's pit stop one of Robby Gordon's pit crew is stand in front of Stremme, obviously unaware that Stremme is ready to leave his pit stall and Stremme pauses. Then he starts forward, with the pet crew member still standing in front of the car. BAM! The poor guy goes onto the hood of Stremme's car and falls to the ground and Stremme leaves his stall. By the way he pauses, it is clear that he sees the guy, but it was like he got tired of waiting! I tried to google search this for some facts and to make sure that the guy was not seriously injured, but could find nothing! Strange! I do hope that Robby's crewman was not hurt badly!

You're right, that is strange! I didn't see anything on Robby's site either or Jayski. Wonder if Stremme got called to the truck or anything. Maybe they'll talk about it this weekend. Ok, waking up from my dream, I doubt if NBC will talk about it.
