I have seen a big improvement for RGM from 2005 to 2006. The famed road course racer, Robby Gordon, missed the Daytona 500 in 2005 that got his new team off to a bad start. He also failed to qualify on time in a lot of races last year since the RGM #7 Jim Beam Chevy was not in top 35 in owners points. Now that the 2006 season is under way you can tell RGM has improved. They switched to DEI Engines that helped there chances and he made the 2006 Daytona 500. The RGM #7 Jim Beam is currently in the top 35 in Nextel Cup Owners Points. He has had some bad luck recently but he has a chance to turn it around and improve even better.
Was never a fan but hes being incredible mature, pateint and a true sportsman this season playing it safe yet calculated. That coupled with less engine failures is making him fairly solid this tear it is indeed interesting to keep on eye on

I was bummed with his result at Sonoma. When you are an ace at that kind of track, you need to take better care of your car and the race will come to you. Instead he had a dnf. Not what you want.
I agree with you about taking care of your car and the race will come to you. And no one ever enjoys a dnf!
You sound like a smart racer! It is cool that you race! I would love to hear one of your race stories one day.

Let me explain something to you. Robby came straight from Indy car racing into Nascar. In Indy car you are taught to hate everyone out there even your teammate. Robby came in with that mentallity and that is why he has gotten in fights with J. Gordon, Stewart, & Earnhardt Jr. in the past. If you remember, no one welcomed Unser Jr. with open arms when he gave Nascar a try awhile back. His thinking he would dominate had nothing to do with off-road racing, it had to do with him being one hell of a driver in Indy car. One of the main reasons he left Indy car was because he pissed off the wrong people and could not get a quality ride. I am not saying he is this incredibly awesome Nascar driver, because he isn't. But he is an incredible DRIVER. I just witnessed him racing his truck in an off-road race last weekend in Vegas, incredible! He will keep improving in Nascar and will be a threat in races other than road courses next year, he just has to get a few more ducks in line.

Interesting stuff, desertroots, cool! So what he did do in Indy to make people mad? I only know him from his Nascar racing. Well, also a little off-road but not much.
