ON WHAT HAPPENED?
“I got turned by the No. 07 car. He crowded me and I didn’t give him a whole lot of room, but it was six laps into practice so I didn’t think it was that big of deal. He just didn’t find the middle pedal when he needed to.”
“When you walk away from something like that you have to smile. It’s just wrong place, wrong time you know. Clint (Bowyer) stuck his nose underneath me and it was either turn right going into the corner if he would have gotten outside of me or count on him checking up. He said he checked up; it just wasn’t enough. He didn’t mean to turn me around, but that’s kind of the way if happened.”
“I asked him (Bowyer). I said ‘just tell me your version’. It’s part of what happens at this type of race tracks. You know everybody is trying to make these cars stick. That really wasn’t a bad part of it, but it’s unfortunate.”
DO YOU HAVE A BACKUP CAR HERE?
“We have one on the way.”
PAT TRYSON (Crew Chief, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
ON WHAT HAPPENED?
“We were out there drafting and both our car and Tony’s (Stewart) car was pretty good. Those guys are out there running hard. They were on the back stretch and Tony had a little run on us. He went to the inside, but there was a slower car there so he came back to the outside and there was just barely enough room. He got into our right rear and turned left and pretty much just wrecked us. Anybody can play it anyway they want, but it was Tony’s fault. There’s some frustration from past history, but that is what it is and we’ll work on our car and try to get a third one down here tomorrow morning. We’ll get ready for the Bud Shootout and put this behind us and get ready for the Daytona 500.
ARE YOU GOING TO GO TO A BACKUP CAR FOR THE BUD SHOOTOUT?
“Yeah, we have no choice. That car is wrecked pretty good, so us and Ryan (Newman) will start in the back I guess. I don’t know what the rules are for the Bud Shootout. I’m assuming we’ll both start in the back. We’ll work our way to the front and hopefully give Dodge a one-two from Team Penske and then we’ll go do the same thing again in the 500.”
