Ryan Newman didn't find Montoya next to him because #42 was running at the front so Newman tried to take out the wall...
Why did Newman hide from the cameramen that came to the garage to find ou why he totaled his car?
Ok, start off with the publicity thing. NASCAR is all about publicity when it comes to the teams managing their sponsors, and teams making other types of deals (i.e. DEI/Ginn merger). For the drivers though NASCAR is just like any other sport. Its all about the winning.
Look at it in this way, you are going for a promotion at work. Someone else beats you out for the promotion. Are you really going to want to get "interviewed" about your thoughts on that person right now?
Case in point, Harvick's comments after the race about Tony. I personally thought he raced him pretty clean. So did the commentators on MRN and ESPN. Yet, Harvick had to bad mouth someone that I always thought he was kinda cool with.
Maybe instead of the drivers getting the blame, the media should have to pay a fine if they interview a person who just got out of a car less than X minutes ago and stick a microphone in their faces (x = a variable that changes depending on why they got out of the car. For example, someone wrecked him = 10 minute cool down)

IMO, drivers show more class by NOT getting on camera after a wreck and bashing fellow competitors. Sure, they are all guilty of it from time to time. But, it really serves no purpose, and besides there is NO rule that says a Driver has to get on camera and make an A** out of himself for the public after he's been wreck anyway. Too bad if the media wants to run up and shove a mic in their face. They can wait.
Sometimes it's best just to leave it be, and focus on gathering yourself together, and then trying to get the car back out on track if you can.
Oh.....and by the way ......Ryan had help on the spin. David Stremme tagged him in the left rear quarter panel. That's what sent him around.

What's funny to me about your post is the whole showing more class by not talking on works for guys like Ryan Newman. When Kyle Busch does that he's being a baby. I do think RN was smart for not talking about it and i agree with your post, it doesn't work that way for all of the drivers though. Someone is gonna complain if it's one of the drivers they don't like that refuse to talk to the media.

True Karma. Kyle is a more in your face and way more part of daily Nascar discussion than Ryan. I don't know why but it is a fact. mrsmopar often calls Ryan the invisible driver. So it gets noticed more in the case of Kyle imo.
I am confident that Ryan was upset greatly. We are 6 to go to the chase and he is on the bubble, he surely didn't want to see his day end that way. I can see why he didn't want to talk. AND I see why Kyle doesn't want to talk when in that same situation. I have made a statement to the fact about Kyle before, but that is because last year I was so impressed with his composure versus big brother Kurt. This year that has changed with Kyle, but now we are seeing why. I think he has known his days were numbered with HMS for way longer than we have, and he has a point to prove. Heck from rumors maybe Ryan does too.
What bugs me is when drivers skip out on interviews when they are in the top 5. THAT would bug me even if it were Jeff!

People's opinions and perceptions are affected by other things too though... wrt Kyle, things like him throwing his hans at a driver, and ripping the cot in victory lane...things like that form people's impressions and then when there's an incident like not hanging around for an interview... it all get bundled together Human nature i think.

...or it could be just because Kyle is a big baby
I know you are joking(well I hope you are). The irony in someone calling Kyle a "baby" for throwing a tantrum is funny, especially coming from a Stewart fan!
It's a shame Karma, but I think you're right. Their are certain drivers that will always get more grief/slack than the others.
....and I agree with you too, Smoked. Whether right or wrong, preception because of other actions often effects how drivers are treated as well. Human nature is definitely a factor too.
