I'm thinkin that they will just take about 25 points and some money for this. I know it wasn't an intentional thing. Roger Penske wouldn't even let his teams experiment with the coil binding a couple of years ago because he felt that that was cheating. I know for sure it wasn't anything like the Jimmie Johnson/Chad Knaus "magic moving back window"! ~LOL~
Could it just be that the car got hit or something? One-eighth of an inch isn't much! I also look for an appeal if they did no intentional wrong.
You are off the hook on this one Honcho because of the awesome pics!

Yeah...I'm with Mrs12. I think if Nascar follows presidence, this will be a 25 pts penalty for driver and owner.
I too don't think it was anything intentional. He certainly did not have the most stellar car out there on Sunday. Even in some of the other cases of this happening with the COT, Nascar themselves have said there was no intent.
I've asked the same question about his car hitting the wall doing it?....but, have not gotten an answer. I also thought that maybe air pressure in the tire was wrong, and or to many cranks on the trackbar. They did make quite a few adjustments throught out the day to battle tightness.
Yeah Bar, we'll just have to be patient and wait!
Nascar usually makes these announcements between 11 Am and 3PM et on Tuesdays. I will try to remember to watch for it. If you see something before I do please post it here, and I'll do the same. I'm sure that the #12 Team will be fine, let's just keep the faith Girl!

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has issued penalties and fines to the No. 12 team that competes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, as a result of rule infractions found last Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.
The No. 12 car driven by Ryan Newman was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock-car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 12.8.1C (right-rear quarter panel height did not meet the required specification; too high in post-race inspection) of the 2008 NASCAR rule book.
As a result, Newman and car owner Roger Penske have been penalized 25 championship driver and 25 championship owner points, respectively. Crew chief Roy McCauley has been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.
"We had an issue in post-race inspection on Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway. It is always our intention to follow NASCAR's rules, and we regret this mistake," Penske Racing South's vice president of operations Michael Nelson said in a statement. "We look forward to getting back to the track this week and are focused on having a strong run in the No. 12 Alltel Dodge at Phoenix International Raceway."
The penalty drops Newman from eighth to 10th in the Sprint Cup standings, with 876 points and now 189 points behind leader Jeff Burton.
