Wink Noting Newman - Aug. 28, 2007

NNCS
-- Ryan Newman will make his 10th start at California Speedway in the NASCAR Cup Series and the 213th of his Cup Series career.

-- Newman has an average start of 11.7 and an average finish of 17.3 at California. Newman has one Bud Pole Award and three other top-10 starts, including a top-five in 2003. Newman has three top-10 finishes, including a career-best third-place in April 2004.

-- Newman has led three races for a total of seven laps. He has completed 2,035 laps of a possible 2,255 for a 90.2 percent completion rate.

-- Newman and Kodak have scheduled a press conference for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in the drivers' meeting room at California Speedway.

-- The Alltel team will participate in the Sept. 10-11 NASCAR COT test at Talladega Superspeedway.

-- On Sept. 15, Newman and his Mobil 1 team will visit the St. Charles Children's Home in Rochester, N.H.

-- Newman and wife Krissie will have a "Pit Road Pets" book signing for Meaty Bone at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 6.

-- The Ryan Newman Fan Club Appreciation Day will be Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at Penske Racing before Newman competes in a Late Model Race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

-- Crew chief Mike Nelson and the Kodak team are taking chassis PRS-108 to California as its primary car for the Sharp AQUOS 500. It was raced at Chicago in July and at Michigan in August. The backup car is PRS-071, which was raced at Charlotte in May and Michigan in June.

Newman on California: "It's getting down to the last couple of races to make it into the Chase and we need to have two more good runs in order to qualify this year. We're working hard on our end, but all we can do is wait and see what happens."

NBS

-- Newman, driver of the No. 12 Kodak Charger, will make his second Busch Series start at California Speedway and his 37th in the series Saturday in the Camping World 300 presented by RVs.com.

-- In Newman¿s only Busch start at California, he started second and finished second. He led 15 laps in that event and completed 150 laps of a possible 150, giving him a 100 percent completion rate.

-- In addition to California, Newman will compete in the Richmond Busch race next week in the No. 12 Kodak Dodge. Those are his final Busch Series races this year.

-- Crew chief Matt Gimbel and the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger Busch team will take chassis PBC-013, which is a new car. The back-up car is PBC-007, which raced in Las Vegas and Texas earlier this year with Kurt Busch at the wheel and in Richmond by Sam Hornish Jr.

Newman on California: "Our only other Busch race at California went really well. We qualified second and finished second and it was a great effort by our team. Last weekend, in Bristol, we had a great time and we tried a strategy that almost got us a win, but we just didn't have enough left at the end. We were racing for the win, not points, and it was a great time. I had a lot of fun and I look forward to doing the same thing this weekend in California.

Wink Noting Newman - Sept. 4, 2007

NNCS

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Avenger, will make his 12th Cup start at Richmond International Raceway. It will be his 214th career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 9.3 and an average finish of 11.1. Newman has one Bud Pole Award at RIR along with six other top-10 starts, including five from the top five.

-- Newman has seven top-10 finishes at Richmond, including one win. Four of his top-10 finishes were inside the top five. He only has one finish outside the top 20 in 11 previous starts.

-- Newman has led 355 laps in seven races at RIR. He has completed 4,275 laps of a possible 4,393 since he made his Cup debut at the 0.75-mile track in 2002. Newman has a completion rate of 97.3 percent at the Northern Virginia track.

-- Raymond VanDerLinden of Springfield, Mo., won the '"Ink Ryan's Ride" contest and received VIP treatment at California Speedway during last week's race weekend. VanDerLinden is a self-taught graphic designer.

-- Crew chief Mike Nelson and the Alltel team are taking chassis PRS-513 to Richmond as their primary car. The car was last raced at New Hampshire International Speedway in July when Newman started 12th and finished 10th. The backup car is PRS-519. It has not been used in a race, but it was tested at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May.

Newman On Richmond: Now that we're officially out of the Chase hunt, things will still remain the same for me and the Alltel Dodge team. We still have 11 more races to try to get the Alltel Dodge in victory lane. Really, I'm still in the same place as I was before. I still try as hard as I can each and every lap, no matter what. Couldn't expect to make up as much as we did, it would have been a miraculous effort in these last two races. Nevertheless, we'lll just keep trying.

NBS

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger, will make his fourth Busch Series start at Richmond International Raceway and his 38th in the series.

-- All of Newman's starts at RIR have been from the fourth position or higher. Two of his finishes have been in the top 10.

-- Newman led 10 laps in one race at Richmond. He has completed 750 laps of a possible 750, giving him a 100 percent completion rate. Friday night's Busch Series race is the final event for Newman on that circuit this season.

Newman On Richmond: This is our final race in the Busch Series and I'd like to go out on a high note and give this team a win before the season is over. We're not racing for points, so we're going to do everything we can to grab the checkered flag and have a good race.

Wink Noting Newman - Oct. 2, 2007

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Avenger, gave another lucky fan the chance to go "Racin' With Ryan" last week in Manhattan, Kan. The ¿\"Racin' With Ryan" promotion is sponsored by Alltel. At random locations throughout the season, Newman shows up at an Alltel Wireless store and surprises one lucky customer with a trip to a future race and the chance to have his or her name on the side of the Alltel Dodge. Last Thursday, Newman made a stop in Kansas and surprised a customer with tickets to the Nov. 11 Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. This was the third time this season that Newman had participated in the "Racin'' With Ryan" promotion. Earlier this year, he surprised a fan in Augusta, Ga., and awarded tickets to the spring race at Texas. His last surprise occurred in Rapid City, S.D., when he gave an Alltel customer tickets to the August Bristol night race.

-- Newman will make his 12th Cup start at Talladega Superspeedway. It will be his 218th career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 12.4 and an average finish of 19.8 at Talladega. He has five starts inside the top 10, including two from the top five. Newman¿s lowest start at the 2.66-mile track has been 28th in April of this year.

-- Newman has four top-10 finishes at Talladega, including a ninth-place finish in April 2007. He has three other finishes inside the top 20, but his last four races produced finishes of 33rd or lower.

-- Newman has led 25 laps in six Talladega races. He has completed 1,707 laps of a possible 2,080 since he made his Cup debut at the restrictor-plate track in 2002. Newman has a completion rate of 82.1 percent at the Alabama track.

-- The primary car for Talladega is chassis PRS-521, a new car that was tested at Talladega last month. That's the only time the car has been on the track. The backup car is PRS-515. It was tested at Talladega and was used during the June race at Dover where Newman qualified on the pole and finished second.

Newman On Talladega: "This weekend is pretty much going to be a blank slate for everyone. It's the first time any of us will really get a chance to see how the COT car works on a superspeedway and I don't think there's any one driver or any one team that has a noticeable advantage this weekend. We've had some bad luck the last couple of weeks, so we're hoping to see some improvement this weekend and get another top 10 at Talladega like we did back in April."

Talking Noting Newman - Oct. 9, 2007

-- Ryan Newman will host his annual Fan Club Appreciation Day on Wednesday at Penske Racing. Fan Club members who registered will have the opportunity to spend time with Newman and his wife, Krissie, from 9 a.m. until noon at the race shop in Mooresville, N.C. Lunch will be provided for those who attend. Later that day, Newman will race at the Dirt Track at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway and fan club members will receive a special discounted price on their tickets. The Jani-King Southern Showdown begins at 7 p.m. EDT.

-- Newman will make his 14th Cup start at Lowe's Motor Speedway in his No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger this weekend. It will be his 219th career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 4.2 and an average finish of 21.5. He only has two starts outside the top five at Charlotte both in 2006 and has earned six Bud Pole Awards, including one in May 2007.

-- Newman has five top-10 finishes at LMS, including three top-fives. Newman finished 39th in May after engine troubles eliminated him from the race after only 172 laps.

-- Newman has led 232 laps in seven Charlotte races. He has completed 3,660 laps of a possible 4,682 since he made his Cup debut at the North Carolina track in 2001. Newman has a completion rate of 78.2 percent at the 1.5-mile track.

-- This week, the Alltel team will use PRS-071 as its primary car. It was last used at Kansas where Newman started 42nd and finished 43rd after the engine failed 108 laps into the rain-shortened race. The backup car is PRS-108, which was last used in Michigan where Newman qualified 34th and finished 16th after rain delayed the race until Tuesday morning.

-- While en route to Texas Motor Speedway for the Nov. 2-4 race weekend, Newman will stop in Beaumont, Texas, on Nov. 1 to visit the ExxonMobil refinery.

-- Newman will participate in the annual Hot Rods & Reels Fishing Tournament at Homestead-Miami Speedway scheduled for Nov. 17.

Newman On Lowe's Motor Speedway: We had a great run last weekend, but couldn¿t pull out the win once those Hendrick cars came to the front. The last time we were in Charlotte, we had a really good, fast car and won the pole the first of three in a row but we had problems with the motor and went out of the race early. We're hoping to get back in the Alltel Dodge Charger at Lowe's and hopefully, have a much better finish there this time and get a win before the season is over.

Smile Noting Newman - Oct. 16, 2007

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Avenger, will make his 12th Cup start at Martinsville Speedway. It will be his 220th career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 5.8 and an average finish of 15.1. He only has one start outside the top 10¿a 24th in April after he spun during his qualifying lap¿and eight starts inside the top five, including two Bud Pole Awards..

-- Newman has five top-10 finishes at Martinsville, all from the top five. He has four other finishes inside the top 20.

-- Newman has led 83 laps in four Martinsville races. He has completed 5,190 laps of a possible 5,500 since he made his Cup debut at the Virginia track in 2002. Newman has a completion rate of 94.4 percent at the half-mile track.

-- Newman's primary car this weekend is chassis PRS-509, which was last used at Loudon, N.H., where the Indiana native qualified fifth and finished ninth. The backup car is PRS-519, which was tested at Charlotte in August, but has not been used in a race.

Newman On Martinsville: "We were so close to getting that win at Charlotte. It would've been really nice to get a win at Lowe's, but we'll just have to wait another week."

"I've never won at Martinsville, but I've had some good runs there. We had a little bit of a problem during qualifying there earlier this year, but we still pulled out a 14th-place finish. We've got a good COT program at Penske, so I think we have a good shot at getting another good finish there this weekend."

Wink Noting Newman - Oct. 23, 2007

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will make his 12th Cup start at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It will be his 221st career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 3.1 and an average finish of 17.2. All but one of Newman¿s starts at Atlanta have been from the top 10, including seven Bud Pole Awards. Newman and mentor Buddy Baker are tied for the most poles at the Georgia track. Newman¿s only non-top 10 start came in October 2006 when qualifying was rained out.

-- Newman has four top-five finishes at AMS. He has five other finishes inside the top 25.

-- Newman has led 159 laps in nine races at Atlanta. He has completed 99.6 percent of the laps possible at the intermediate track 3,483 of 3,498 since he made his Cup debut at the track in 2002.

-- Newman's wife, Krissie, will celebrate her birthday Sunday. The couple plans to celebrate her birthday by visiting Noah's Ark in Atlanta, an animal shelter with some interesting occupants, including tigers, bears and monkeys.

-- The Alltel team will participate in the NASCAR COT test slated for Monday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

-- This week's primary car is PRS-108. This car was last raced at Michigan in August. Newman qualified 34th and finished 16th in that event after a two-day rain delay. PRS-082 is the back-up car. It was tested at Kentucky earlier this year, but has not been used in a race.

Newman On Atlanta: 'We've been having some really good runs the last few weeks, beginning with Talladega. We did really well at Charlotte until the truck arm broke with two laps to go, but I think we've improved a lot on our intermediate-track program, so we¿re looking forward to Atlanta. We're taking a good car with us. We got the pole back in March and had to replace the engine before the race, so we started in the back and just couldn't get things going from there. Hopefully, we'll have some better luck this time around."

Smile Noting Newman - Oct. 30, 2007

-- The second annual Ryan Newman Fishing Tournament and third annual Celebrity Reception is fast approaching. Be sure to check The Ryan Newman Foundation Website for more information and a registration form.

Last year, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart shared "big fish" stories with more than 300 fishermen at the inaugural Ryan Newman Foundation Celebrity Charity Fishing Tournament sponsored by Ranger Boats at Blythe Landing in Huntersville, N.C., on Saturday, Dec. 16. The charity bass tournament raised more than $40,000 for the Ryan Newman Foundation Endowment, which will be a source of grants for non-profit organizations that fulfill the Foundation¿s mission.

Newman fished Lake Norman with FLW Angler of the Year Anthony Gagliardi in his Alltel-wrapped Ranger Boat. Newman and Stewart were joined on the FLW Outdoors stage by Ranger Boats Founder Forrest Wood during the awards ceremony, sponsored by Alltel. Fisherman Brian Morgan and Michael Fox of Newton, N.C., won the grand prize, a 519VX Ranger Boat with a VZ200TLR HPDI Yamaha motor, valued at $35,000.

This year, the fishing tournament will be Saturday, Dec. 8. Tournament registration and the VIP reception and auction will be on the evening of Friday, Dec. 7. For additional details about the fishing tournament, go to The Ryan Newman Foundation Website.

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, will make his ninth Cup start at Texas Motor Speedway. It will be his 222nd career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 14.2 and an average finish of 28.4 at the 1.5-mile track. He has three top-five starts, including two Bud Pole Awards, which he swept in 2005.

-- Newman has one win at Texas: March 2003. His next highest finish is a 16th in April 2005. His other six finishes have been 25th or lower.

-- Newman has led 80 laps in three Texas races. He has completed 2,306 laps of a possible 2,677 since he made his Cup debut at the track in 2002. Newman has a completion rate of 86.1 percent at the intermediate track.

-- Crew chief Mike Nelson and the Alltel team are taking chassis PRS-110 to Texas as their primary car. The car was tested at Kentucky, but it has never been raced. The backup car is PRS-108, which was raced by Newman last weekend in Atlanta. It qualified fifth, but finished 37th after an engine failure eliminated Newman from the race on lap 267.

Newman On Texas: "We're taking a brand-new car to Texas this week. We tested it at Kentucky, but that's the only time it's been on the track, so we'll see how it goes."

"Last week, we had problems with our car all weekend. It didn't qualify the way it usually does and then it just got worse as the weekend went on. We had some great momentum going into Atlanta, but we'll be able to get that back during these last three weeks and hopefully, we can win a second time at Texas."

Cool Noting Newman - Nov. 6. 2007

-- Ryan Newman will drive in the USAC Midget Car Series race at Phoenix International Raceway prior to this weekend's Checker Auto Parts 500.

-- Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Avenger, will make his 11th Cup start at Phoenix International Raceway. It will be his 223rd career start in the Cup Series. Phoenix was the track where Newman made his Cup Series debut in 2000.

-- Newman has an average start of 9.5 and an average finish of 22.2 at the 1-mile track. He has three Bud Pole Awards, which he earned 2002-04. He has three other top-10 starts at the track.

-- Newman has two top-10 finishes at Phoenix and three more inside the top 15.

-- Newman has led 114 laps in three Phoenix races. He has completed 2,825 laps of a possible 3,123 since he made his debut in 2000. Newman has a completion rate of 90.2 percent at the Arizona track.

-- Crew chief Michael Nelson and the Alltel team will take chassis PRS-525 to Phoenix this weekend. It is a new car that has only been tested at Atlanta. The backup car is chassis PRS-519. It has been the backup car for the last few COT races, but it has not been used. The last time it was on the track was during a tire testing session at Lowe¿s Motor Speedway.

Newman on Phoenix: "I've had my ups and downs at Phoenix during my career, but I like racing at the track. We had a decent run going in the spring before we had some problems on pit road."

"We've been having some great runs lately and the team was able to pull out a top-five finish at Texas last week despite the fact that the car wasn't the best all weekend. The guys did a great job getting the car ready for the race and our pit crew did a great job getting me track position all night."

Wink Noting Newman - Nov. 13, 2007

-- Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger, will make his sixth Cup start at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It will be his 224th career start in the Cup Series.

-- Newman has an average start of 8.0 and an average finish of 20.6 at the 1.5-mile track. All of his starts have been 16th or higher, including three from the top-five.

-- Newman has two top-10 finishes at Homestead. His other finishes have been 23rd, 30th and 37th.

-- Newman has led 133 laps in three races. He has completed 1,187 laps of a possible 1,340 since he made his debut in 2002 at the south Florida track. Newman has a completion rate of 88.6 percent.

-- Crew chief Mike Nelson and the Alltel team are taking chassis PRS-110 to Homestead as its primary car. This was the car Newman raced at Texas where he qualified 11th and finished fifth. The backup car is chassis PRS-108. This car was last raced in Atlanta at the end of October. It qualified ninth, but finished 37th after developing engine problems.

Newman On Homestead: "This is our last chance to get a win before the season is over and I think we have a good chance of getting it done. Our team has been solid the last couple of weeks and even though we had some problems in Atlanta, we've still been running really well."

"I'm really proud of our team and the way they've been able to battle back throughout the season. It seems like every time we have a bad weekend, we come back to the track and have a few good finishes in a row. That shows how dedicated these guys are. They're not going to let one bad week keep them from working hard the next week and getting good finishes in the Alltel Dodge."
