Hey...I like Vickers too! But, he has taken out his share of drivers through out his career. Ryan included (...and more than once)! On a side note....It always amazes me that how overall us fans can be guilty of forgetting about lil' things like that when it's our favorite driver. Yet, we always seem to remember what was done to our driver much more clearly than we see what he does to others.....lol, lol, lol
Oh well....whatcha gonna do. I guess I just don't stay angry about these things. Drivers change, develop and mature each season. I prefer look at each season with a fresh pair of eyes.
Well the Talladege wreck was Jimmie Johnson's fault when he started playing mind games with Dale Junior. If he would have pulled out and STAYED OUT, Vickers pulled out to push him, but noooo Johnson had to bob and weave and all the BS, Vickers clips him and all the sudden he is Nascar's bad boy. The only other time he's taken anyone out was at the Open, and his car was plain faster, same thing that happend when Gordon ran over Kenseth. One car way faster than the other, and if the slow car isn't willing to move up a grove is probably going to get moved. And show me ONE time when he's ever punted Ryan Newman.
Yeah he is pretty much an idiot, but I am still ticked at him for taking Brian Vickers our while he was running in the Top 5, and Newman was 2 freakin laps down!!!!!!!

The Talladega race never came to my mind. I actually cheered when Vickers went for the win.
Sorry, don't know if I could SHOW you (and I don't believe I ever used the word punted), but I do remember what seemed like a string of races when Vickers first got started that I would usually cringe whenever he was around any of my favorite drivers (not just Ryan). In one of those races (I think it was Chicago, or MI) there was like 6 laps to go, and Vickers got into Ryan, and sent him hard into the wall while he was running in the top five.
But, just because I can remember the incident(s), doesn't mean that I hold it against him. It was an accident, he made a mistake. IMO, it's not reason for me to hate him.
Michigan? Newman had the flat tire right at the start, went 2 laps down. Brian Vickers raced his way into contention, and Newman racing the leaders like a maroon took out Vickers. It's a whole new level, too, when someone like that takes out a brand new team, brand new make and young driver fighting for a Top 35 birth. If it weren't for being taken out this year at Atlanta(Biffle), Darlington(McMurray ran him over when Vickers himself avoided wrecking Yeley), Michigan(Newman), Daytona(Nemechek). He would easily be in the Top 35 in points as he was Top 15 at Darlington, Top 5 Michigan, Top 12 Daytona.

Wow, way to ignore the facts... lol... Vickers has missed 9 races... And Michigan was (again) not Newman's fault. Green spun him. Admittedly he was laps down, but hey, if I were a team owner and my driver wasn't doin everything short of causing a wreck to get a lap back, he wouldn't be my driver for long.
As for Darlington, have you ever driven a car 140+ mph and tried to react when another car moves in front of you??? Admittedly, we are talking about people who are paid to do it, but they are still human.
Sorry, I don't remember the wrecks in Atlanta or Daytona, but anyone who knows where they are (not in Win Media Player format please... comp has issues) I would be glad to comment.
Newman is no more dangerous than any other driver. Personally, my favorite driver is probably the most dangerous on the track (no offense StewartLove and Smoked) with his attitude problem. I look at it this way. The most true and probably correct line about NASCAR is probably the one from Days of Thunder to the effect of "Look you infantile ego-maniac.... Out there with 40 other infantile ego-maniacs"

Truth?
Ah ha....it didn't happen! That's why I wasn't remembering it.....Whew! and here I thought I was having one of me old age brain lapses....... lol, lol, lol. Thanks for joggin me ole' memory back Mike.
I agree about the laps down too. Just because a driver has some bad luck early in the race, it doesn't mean that they are just suppose to roll over, and give up. Sure I do think there is a time to try it and push a lil', and then maybe there are other times it wouldn't really be all that smart of a move. But in this case Ryan had an opportunity to get one of his laps back the hard way (which at MI it is really the only way to do it) and since it was a on the restart, it was a good time to try to get in front of the leaders.
